He’s not wrong to be clueless. This fed is about as toothless as it is incompetent.

0DTE bears getting squeezed. Absolutely no reason for equities to be rallying given the bond market moves today.

Good observation. US10Y still at highs and hasn't reacted to the equities bounce.

Who's gonna flinch first?

Fed Speech Scrapped After Participant Shows Porn in Zoom Room
Fed Speech Scrapped After Participant Shows Porn in Zoom Room
I get shoved into classes or seminars about every three months where we gotta do the whole zoom thing as a federal worker. Usually they are quite the bore, but I had one that was fun. I normally just pretend I’m too stupid to work a camera and microphone so I can play video games and zone it out.

One class was a particularly magical combination of inept instructors and a fellow coworker who just didn’t give a fuck. Normally instructors can mute and unmute screens and mics one at a time, but neither of the instructors knew how, and could only unmute everyone at once or no one, so they asked the participants to individually mute themselves. One of the participants was an Italian from New York named tony. First time they open the floor for questions his camera comes on and it’s super obvious he’s driving around, his microphone on his phone loudly going over the questions that someone was trying to ask. I knew I was in for a fun ride as the instructors tried to get him to mute so people could ask their questions and he just got an angry look and firmly said “NO! I hear enough stupid questions at work”

Throughout the day I got to see him shopping, eating lunch noisily and drinking something that looked suspiciously like beer as he sat bare chested at what I assume was his apartment watching TV, all of this while on the clock. The instructors were probably required to open up for questions at certain times or something. By the end of the day the chat was mostly people spamming “no” when we were gonna open for questions, with a few people trolling things like “tony has a question I bet”

Very interesting read that possibly explains the muted VIX action of the last year.

Less debatable is that the proliferation of 0DTE options is complicating matters in a market where conflicting narratives abound and volatility is the only certainty. They’ve made the task of figuring out the market’s collective thinking on the economy a futile exercise of late, especially on days when key data like inflation are released.

Some analysts also say 0DTEs are muffling the usefulness of Wall Street’s widely followed fear gauge, known as the Cboe Volatility Index or the VIX, as a sentiment indicator. While those fast-twitch contracts reflect heightened anxiety in the marketplace, none of it is captured by the VIX, which is calculated based on only S&P 500 options expiring 23 to 37 days into the future.

This sounds super fake news. UAE leaving opec would probably put their idea of becoming the new switzerland at risk. Their leaders like money too much to consider something so stupid.
