Been busy with work as most of my company always takes the holidays off and this is the busiest time of year in my industry (healthcare) and kind of lost track of my PLTR stop price. It executed this morning at $73.

Mixed emotions on that. Now I'm gonna sit here hoping it tanks during the first quarter of 2025 for no reason other than angst about what might happen.

I'm off the bandwagon PLTR!!! You suck you overpriced POS!!!!
The good news is it executed this morning so its not a tax event until April 2026.

Both me and the wife fully fund 401k/deferred comp accounts. Would you suggest a Roth or find a better use for those funds (real estate)? I'm PERS so I'm out at 55 (both currently 43). Not sure funding a Roth at this point would be beneficial.
Roth is useful if you are qualified to contribute and your AGI makes it so a traditional isn't tax deductible. Since you mention a 401k, this is most likely the case for you. Putting money in that will grow tax deferred and come out untaxed is never a bad thing.

I am now down $48k in unrealized gains.

This is officially the most painful lesson in taking profits.

If its long term investing then its a blip and you shrug it off. Market timing is "usually" no bueno.

I have the conviction, I'm just retarded for not taking the euphoria profits. I'm still up +40% over the last year, but seeing huge red numbers in my account is hard.

I've been putting into my 401ks and 529s (which I have started using for my oldest kid) since my early 20s and, with retirement starting to look within reach, I am thinking about dabbling in other investments. Where do I start? I've had sort of shitty experiences with financial planners so I have been going it alone on picking mutual funds. I just shotgun it and seem to do okay but I'd like to be more sophisticated in my approach over these last 10 years or however long I wait to retire.

Am I crazy to think I could start copying Nancy Pelosi's homework? Real estate? Other passive incomes? Anyone have some recommendations on where to start researching? My current job keeps me pretty busy so I don't really have time to put into day trading and I would probably get my ass kicked.

Grabbed some TLT at $87.49
Not seeing this as a buy and hold, more like putting some cash to work and expect to spin out of these sometime in the future. For now, Ill take the dividend while I wait for some price recovery.

I went long UBER calls at it's recent lows. Up 130% and 52% and I have plenty of time on these calls. Just not sure what I want to do here. Been a really nice two day move.

I often don't hold long enough to get things really become big winners. Seeing a lot of pops get knocked down in the market has me more leaning towards selling, but we may be heading back into a week or two of strength.

selling a lot of higher risk call plays, happy with the pop just seeing some things in charts I don't like. Most common is stocks that are now stuck below their 20d and 50d ma's. This morning pop took a lot of them up to resistance. Not overly bearish but I'm going to take my gains and reassess on higher beta stuff. Was playing around with buying more call contracts than I normally do but not a regular thing for me.

Took the profits on my NVDA puts. Up about 75% on a 3-day hold. Still holding on to my MSTR puts for now. The only problem with cash covered puts is they put a dent in your tradeable cash. Closing NVDA opened up some cash.

I always find myself doing ODTE on tsla every now and then, and take profit too early. Today held my $390C all the way down to low $380s and then sold @ $394, damn thing went all the way up to $405.. left $1k profit on the table. Oh well
