I just buy about $20k of VTI every month, never sell. Last time I pulled from my holdings was like 2015. I love reading this thread but the way you guys trade would give me ulcers.

What kind of job allows you to put $240k/year away into investments?

A good one?

I put over 90k a year into investments the past four years straight, not even counting the 22k for my 401k, and according to you people all I do is fix voicemail boxes.

Man I wish I even had a job. Investing sure is easier when you are socking Cad/Mist amounts away every year. Ever year is an up year!

Unemployed since 2015

Fuck @Khane he paper-handed his PLTR shares like the rest of us losers.
I dipped my toes into individual stocks and it went like hell.

Bought AMC during that whole Gamestop period for maybe $15 ($1000 total). Went up to $25 I think and that's when the fuckery happened and I couldn't sell. I think I got out and it was $10. Took a 1/3 haircut there.

Left it in that account and eventually bought PLTR around $20. Went up to $25 and I'm like fuck yeah, let it ride. Fell to $10 and I sold. Was down another 1/3 of my initial investment ($300ish)

Started more actively trading it and was able to buy back in at $6. I don't remember the exact details, but I eventually sold it to where I was only down 50% of my initial AMC investment ($500).

Decided to cut my losses and never actively trade again. Even though $1000 was 0.01% of my portfolio, it still hurt.

Had I kept holding that PLTR though, holy shit.

Hope you were a better operator than you were a stock picker :p

The only individual stock that went horribly for me was INTC.

Buying META felt like a fantastic gain, selling for a quick 55% return; then it continued to run up another 400%.

The only thing I've consistently made reliable money on trading was Greyscale ETH. Even that I was down 75% at one point, but I kept averaging down.

Hey I'm joining you soon on that one. But I'm still going to passively invest. I'm going to actively fuck off and do no actual work, though. :)

What are you investing / saving for, Mist Mist - cat lady retirement foundation inc?
To survive?

I don't have a lot of current needs. I might make good money now, but I have absolutely no idea what the future will bring.

I live vicariously through the people in this thread, while I squirrel away a few bucks hoping one day it will amount to something.

GD did I make so many bad life choices lol, sometimes it gets hard to wrap my head around the kind of money you guys trade/invest. Not sure I could take the risk if I had it!

Wait until you add up all the hours/days/weeks/months/years you spent playing MMOs, then you will truly grasp bad life choices.

I was one of the first handful of people to ebay my EQ character. I sold it for ~$1500 and I figure I made about $0.75 an hour.

Wait till I price out my time investment in my kids!

This one hit me hard a few years ago. I did not look up the actual hours but I started to ask myself, "Why do I care about collecting all the little badger pelts?" or whatever. I still like and play video games but *mostly* gave up MMO's and stopped trying to 100% everything. I just play for the story now and if I enjoy it, after the story is over I will run around and do the little achievements.

That alone cut my video game time in half easily. Anyway back to investing :) BITO paid me just shy of 10k again this month, 0.93/share!

Unfortunately less than 1% of my holdings
This is like my Facebook holdings. Bought at $38 after the IPO in my wife’s little IRA from an old job. I think she had like $2200 in there? I just used it all. She doesn’t even know about it. Will be fun in 20 years to show her assuming it maintains like this.
