Yea, probably should have held! I do take big risks sometimes(like my SOFI failure on earnings) but I don't know enough about UNH and I was already up over 10% so I got nervous. I mean....I had a damn 592P on it!, which I sold @ 18$ and it's now worth over 100$

I literally missed about 300k in gains :( Looking at it makes me /sad panda big time, but as I said in a post after that, it's why I'll never be the dude turning 30k into 3 million....I dont have the balls to hold that long, over that volatility, or into earnings most of the time.

However, and I've mentioned this many times, with my "play" money, anytime I get a win I put about half into stable things(SPY) and the other half add to my play pool. I think once both pools get big enough I'll have the balls to go a bit harder on some clearly risky plays every now and then.

EDIT:
Bought 2 NFLX Puts for their earnings after hours today. Only about a 9k bet, but after not holding UNH I'm feeling lucky/greedy. This is a total shot in the dark earnings play with low money.

Netflix up 18$ or about 2%....i think people know something I don't. My 10k bet is down so much it's not even worth selling at a loss now. Pray on drop in earnings or a correction next week lol

Powell was a little too political yesterday, that may seem to be an odd statement compared to Trumps bombast. You'd have to speak Fed to fully appreciate. The Fed is very cautious in it's language and he was taking a "we are not supportive, we could be, but at this time no."

We may all hate the Fed but markets are far more likely to go risk on when the fed has their back and the Fed is signaling the market is on its own. It's going to be viewed as political when we get vix spike of 60 and Fed ISN"T supportive.

It can be summed up with the AI Jerome saying "fuck your calls".

Federal Judge rules GOOGL holds an illegal monopoly over online advertising. This will allow the gubmint to look for a break-up of Alphabet in some way. Stock actually moves higher after the news.

I did end up selling GOOGL from my LT portfolio. Such bad decision making on their part for just too long, employees who are too heavily indoctrinated in a cult to adjust course. Stock may still go up over the next 5 years but I think there is better places for my money. Marks the first sale from LT holders.

Still on watch list, AAPL but they have more leash yet to keep making poor choices before they get the ax too

I did protect myself a bit, but my 9k bet will probably be a 4-5k loss :( Ahh well, I did almost no research on this one. It was a complete gamble that they felt the same pain the overall market sentiment is expressing, i was wrong. I usually do way more research and deserve what I got(or didnt get)

The small bet was an indication of my confidence. But damn, Had I gone the other way I think it would have been a 125% gain as of now.

Without insider info, this is just straight up gambling. It is a coin toss. At least go to Vegas and get some free drinks and comps.

Why are you exposing yourself to such a binary event?
