So...I can't seem to remember past the sea of red, but last month when CPI soared, what sold off the most? If I seem to recall, everything but big cap mega tech did, but the tech stocks sold more. Trying to think what to short tomorrow if the number comes in hotter than expected (some say it will be the worst report in decades).

Not sure if there's an ETF that would be best to short, or individual tech stock that has no earnings. Anyway, we could see some big buying opportunities the next few days.

Thoughts?

This isnt short term but rumor has it Intel will start contracting with TSMC to fab chips in late 2023;

Theres no shortage. Shortage just sounds better than saying you where outbid for capacity.

Same with Ford trucks. Someone at Ford thought it would be a great idea to cancel chip contracts because with shutdowns nobody would be buying a new vehicle. Good bet. People didn't want to rely on mass transit during a "pandemic" and also shovel out money to people and expect those that kept working to not spend some of it on cars and such.

Friend that has been in charge of a service department at Ford dealer for 20 years just quit. Ford decided they are going to ship trucks without chips so dealers appear to have stuff on the lot. Then let the techs install the chips at the dealer down the road. Said that was enough they are already backed up a ton people trying to get their shit to last till more comes in. Went to work for a custom offroad maker.

I mentioned it back in May, but we bought a Mazda. When talking to the finance guy, he said in the next 60 days (so June/July) they were only scheduled to get two additional vehicles.

Be cautious shorting. Free money and the Fed Put are extremely difficult to overcome. No matter what the CPI says its gonna be squirrely. Also things like lumber and used car prices have been cruising down. They will point to that as proof of "transitory".

I don't see any signals to short, just signals to buy. Market right now seems to like the inflation numbers. I'm not shorting without confirmation. That was my retarded ass yesterday (I know better).

Which is the other name I hold. I'd add costco to my retailer list but often have more trouble finding a good entry on it.
Speaking of which, I jumped back into AMZN today. I think I stalked it for a good two weeks. Grabbed it just under $3300.

You think TSM is due for a move? I bought it back in march with ASML. TSM never moved and ASML is up 52%
I went back and studied the 2 and 3 year charts and decided you were right on TSM. Im not anti-TSM I just think I should be able to find better bargains.
