every description i've seen so far seems like this is just Falling Down 2: Electric Boogaloo
Incorrect, as I would be excited for Falling Down 2 to come out.

lol. like i said before, i loved that movie and would like more in that vein. but I'M not excited about joker exactly because that's what i've gleaned from it. it just feels like they've missed the mark on who the joker isIncorrect, as I would be excited for Falling Down 2 to come out.
It does legitimately just look like Falling Down 2, so it will probably be an entertaining movie that has absolutely nothing to do with Joker.
in theory no, it's not. i love that movie. but it's not joker and it's not innovative. the dude from falling down, you can't help but empathize with him, even though he's not making great choices. a lot of the issues he goes through are just as much his own making as much as the world around him but we've all been there in some fashion. in a lot of ways he's the embodiment of "there but by the grace of God go I."
That's not joker. joker shouldn't be a character you empathize with. i said before earlier but the only way to do the character justice is to make the audience feel for him, but then pull the rug out from underneath everyone by showing us how irredeemably evil, how unjustifiably malicious he is. hopefully that's the direction they are going but we'll see.
i have to agree.lol that clip, he sounds like a whiny millennial in face paint - that is NOT the Joker, fuck that.
I mean that seems to be the point of the whole movie from the clips we've seen so far. The character vocalizes that society pushed him to be that way, but I think the idea is that he always was evil, and something just pushed him to actually express it outwardly. That's not joker. joker shouldn't be a character you empathize with. i said before earlier but the only way to do the character justice is to make the audience feel for him, but then pull the rug out from underneath everyone by showing us how irredeemably evil, how unjustifiably malicious he is. hopefully that's the direction they are going but we'll see.
yeah, like i said, we'll see if that's actually what happens. i mean, i want the movie to be an accurate representation of joker, because he's incredibly iconic. if it has an ending like arlington road or infinity war (atypical hollywood ending), i'll be really happyI mean that seems to be the point of the whole movie from the clips we've seen so far. i have to agree.
that scene didnt come across as a chaotic evil character knowingly doing evil things, but as someone who is neutral, unknowingly doing evil things because "reasons". its a huge departure from any other Joker we know of.
spoilersspoiler that shit
i think what chuk meant is that it seemed reactionary. this was his reaction to the world around him being terrible, and specifically terrible to him.Ummm... ... unknowingly doing evil?"
This could be a great movie but because it's called Joker a huge portion of people will lose their shit that's it's not what they envisioned even though it's more akin to a "What If" story than canon.
