Zodiac Age fixes all of the issues with the original US release. Bumps it up to 2nd best FF of all time for me.

Yeah I'm happy about that, I tried getting into the emulated DS version once but didn't, so I'll probably grab the remake on Switch once I buy one, later(probably once it price drops, so end of 2018 or 2019 depending on Nintendo, since it's still selling well I'm not sure they'll price drop this year).
Probably will grab FF12 at some point too but I didn't like it that much so not in a hurry to do so, I'll wait for sales especially since it launches at a fairly high price(not like too much, it is a remake with a bunch of shit after all, just not 20bucks).
Also since I didn't see a post about it, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is launching on PC on Jan 30th, with the new translated script and new voices and probably PC issues fixed. Translation/voice patch on the same day for other platforms(the game launched a bit ago on consoles but they delayed the PC release due to issue and reworked the translation entirely cause it was hot garbage, not that Ys is particularily reknown for its story but eh).

Anyone play through Tales of Berseria, or any of the other Tales games on PS4?
I haven't played a Tales game since Symphonia on Gamecube and was looking for something next to play through.

Berseria is great, but it's a lot darker than the other tales games. You're following a group of villains more than you're following a group of Heroes, but I personally love that.
I'd avoid zestiria unless you really like the story of berseria, and want to see how the world ends up because the games are loosely connected.

Zodiac age was incredible on the ps4, the speed boost alone made the grinding very enjoyable.
I'm scooping octopath, it looks great to me, I love those style of graphics (ie old retro) with new game mechanics.
I'm grabbing ff12 for the pc hoping they mod in some harder stuff to kill.

Cool! I personally really loved it and it was a pretty big departure from the anime trope norms which made it stand out.

Yeah, while I enjoyed Symphonia way back when, the series always seemed really tropey so I avoided it. Gameplay videos look fun and the premise looks interesting, so what the hell, I'll jump in

I agree with that. I really loved Vesperia too, that had an awesome dark tone to it.
I thought Graces f and Zestiria were solidly OK titles. Beseria definitely upped the bar.

I think that's why I've taken to the Persona/SMT games so much lately. While there are some tropes, the stories are much more mature than the standard animu~ stuff.
Though, if a battle system is good enough, I can look past the cliche story (I.E. Grandia series)
