I don't take the internet seriously enough to actually think about it that hard, to be honest.

I really just think most of the internet is trolling for a reaction. I could see someone getting a reaction, and consistently getting a reaction, and continuing to goad and troll for that exact reaction for well onto hundreds of posts if not more. I mean this thread is a pure example of that from Tanoomba, after all.

Yeah, you could figure that Tanoomba is just a complete troll persona...

Or you could take his posts as holding a grain of truth of his personality, that he is a liberal english professor that holds very strong views on racism and sexism. Sometimes these views lead him astray into seeing it when it doesn't exist.


Just like I assume that Lumie is really a conspiracy nut irl, you are a biology major that loves to endlessly debate with people about science, and that Araysar is a pro-gun liberal from Chechnya with a tendency to see any disagreement as sign that the other person is a moron.

1. I was born and grew up 1700 miles from Chechnya. For those with a standard American education - that's roughly the distance between NYC and Denver

2. Dont give Tanoomba the privilege of being called a professor, he teaches K-12 probably.

Not a liberal, though I suppose I share some of their views.
Not a professor, I teach ESL to elementary and high school kids.
And the views I hold on racism and sexism aren't even really that strong. I mean, I think they're both harmful for society to be sure, but they can't hold a candle to the wealth gap. It's more a matter of as much as some people like to be assholes for the sake of being assholes, I like to call people out on being assholes and show them that they're asshole defense generally doesn't stand up to a rational discussion. There's a reason why I often present my argument in as simple a form as possible, and it's that people who make a great effort to contradict me have been consistently unable to explain how these simple points are wrong. If people would like to consider this my way of trolling, fine! I troll people by pointing out their stupidity in simple, non-refutable ways. It boggles my mind how many posts have been made trying to explain how "American Inventors gonna Kang" is not a racist statement. Am I a troll for continuing the conversation long after it's been shown only one side is wiling to be rational (Protip: Mine)? Maybe, but that happens to be fun for me.
