Because it preaches a doctrine of victimization that hasn't been coherent or completely relevant in 30 years. Some points are still relevant. There are still arbitrary inequalities and they'd do better to focus on those. But you know, it's politics, and there's way more money to be made in ranting like a crazy person.

I still remember when Gloria Steinham wrote an op-ed defense of Bill Clinton's sexual promiscuity in the NYT. Her tl;dr was "men just need to get their dicks wet, and powerful men REALLY need to get their dicks REALLY wet". I think you can pinpoint that moment in time as the moment where the dream went all zombie-jesus. I never even respected her that much to begin with but I didn't actively despise her either. I was willing to listen. That op-ed convinced me she's just another self-interested lesbian.

Actually, it's funny to see how this doctrine of victimization spreads to many reaches of life and types of people, including smug internet assholes. Case in point, watch a bunch of guys who normally say stupid shit every day and not give a shit what anyone thinks suddenly get really bent out of shape when someone mentions that racist statements are kind of obsolete and counter-productive in today's society. You wanna see victims? Ho-lee shit, these guys might as well start a shelter for butthurt men who can't believe someone would violate the sanctity of their names with the word "racist".

Oh, and when their over-the top racist stupidity gets a reaction from moderators? "Not my fault! Not my fault! It was the race-baiter's fault!" You've never seen people shirk responsibility for their actions like these guys, let me tell you.Classicvictims. They don't even see the irony of their own "anti-victimization" rhetoric. When other people play the victim they are weak and actively harming society, when these guys play the victim it's because their sacred right to an untarnished reputation was violated by a stranger on the internet. Fucking beautiful.

It is hilarious, especially when they say things like "We shouldn't take anything anyone says seriously over the internet, its all trolling" and yet get bent out of shape at someone calling their actions racist over the internet.

Pretty sure the issue is that they were using the "DAT RAYCISS" argument in an attempt to derail the thread into endless semantics arguments and pedantry for weeks on end in the hopes of continually getting the thread rickshawed, and thus avoiding having to actually face the facts that Zimmerman wasn't some white supremacist who hunted down little black boys in the street, not the actual accusations of racism.

The accusations of racism were just a stupid tactic employed by idiots like Tanoomba to achieve their goal of making the thread impossible to have an actual conversation about the trial and the way the media handled the case, because that's all inconvenient to their world view. The reaction was just a really great way of countering their stupidity with more stupidity. Somehow you seem to have missed that.
