It was fun watching a quick-draw scene. Hasn't been much of that in the last couple seasons.

I find the idea that swinger parties are the preferred meeting place for the upper crust in this community a bit of a stretch, but I like them trying to manipulate Boyd. Definitely a tiger by the tail situation there.

The super hot, super smart chick that has dedicated her life to online poker and is also completely fearless in life or death situations also seems like a bit of a stretch but if she joins the marshal service that could be fun.

Between this show and True Blood I find it pretty stunning how many super good looking people there are in the rural south. Maybe I should think about moving down there.

They showed in a flashback scene that he had learned that Raylan was living in that bar during their previous confrontation and since he had basically told Raylan he was coming for him, it makes sense that he would be waiting where he thinks Raylan lives.

because he lives there and assumed jodie overhead him talking about it with the female bond agent.

i thought the whole van escape was stupid as fuck. they get a flat tire and don't consider the possibility that someone sabotaged it or make sure the prisoner is secure?

Yeah, I kinda figured that but it wasn't clear it was the same bar. I got the impression he had to travel a ways to get to that chick's home. Plus he looked at those Kentucky plates as if they were out of state.

I think the plates just stood out because they were super cheesy personalized plates. Not the best choice for a criminal who doesn't want to draw attention to himself.

art sounded sincere but maybe it was just a ploy to scare that guy off. i don't really care if he has it or not but i wish the character was a little more developed. he's basically sitting at his desk the whole time.
Art also described Rachel as crazy during that scene, so I don't think he was being entirely truthful.

Someone said/wrote that Tim was originally intended to have a much bigger role in the series, but then Boyd stole the show early on and that focus went to him instead. I agree though that it would be great to see Tim some more.

Here is how the actor who plays Tim sees it :

Tim spends so much of his time in the Marshall?s office, particularly at his desk. Are there any Easter eggs you guys have scattered around the set?

No, other than the idea that every time I?m at that desk, I?m playing it with the thought that Raylan is essentially a fictional character and he?s Tim?s Tyler Durden. That?s essentially how I play that stuff. The whole show is just what?s happening inside of Tim?s imagination as he stares at that boring computer screen.

They made another reference to PTSD when Raylan asked him about the fantasy books he reads, when he went to see the hill people, and Tim made a joke out of it. There was some interview with the EP of the show who said they purposefully threw that comment in, because apparently it's widespread that PTSD sufferers sometimes revert back to things they enjoyed as children, and try to immerse themselves in fantasies from simpler times.

Actually here is the quote:

That fun bit about the book the character Tim (Jacob Pitts) is reading now, where did that come from?
That was Jacob's idea. It's the notion that often people with PTSD will regress. They'll go to reading, and entertainment, or whatever that reminds them of a happier, simpler time, and also fantasy. So the idea that he's reading books not unlike Harry Potter seemed right.

Idk, maybe i'm overthinking the whole angle, it just seems like they're setting something up to me.

Quite funny episode, with Jody and his sidekick, makes me wonder when the top moron Dewey Crowe will be back especielly now since there is a hunt on Ellen May.

Sadly he was tied up during this seasons filming, presumably with his role in Vegas or back in Aussieland. They do want him back next year though!

You know, when I heard the internet theory that the new Harlan Sheriff elected last season was Drew Thompson, I thought it was a terrible retcon to keep a great actor on the show.

I still think it is.

It was pretty much telegraphed to you in that last episode.

lol, how many people died in the last episode? What a blood bath. Anyways, if you watched last episode, there can be little doubt that Sheriff Shelby is Drew Thompson.

1. His age range fits the profile and his past has always been clouded.
2. The wife stuff matches up. So does his conversations with Ellen May, as well does her snooping around indicate that he has secrets that he is hiding.
3. His savviness to use Boyd to rise to a position of power (one that he can use to protect himself) while also turning on Boyd at the exact time his identity is coming into danger.
4. His uncanny interest in Drew Thompson, or more so his interest in what other people (Raylan) know about him.
5. The TV shows lack of other potential suspects. Sure, they could bring some unknown character into the fold, but it is better TV if they do the reveal that he was "hiding right under our nose!".

The real question, is why Arlo would take Shelby's secret to the grave? With Arlo's wife's demise last season, Raylan is his only next of kin. So who is he protecting? Who is benefiting? Alro's motivations in this whole story arch are the biggest unknowns.

Speaking of Arlo, I don't think they could have made is passing any more anti-climatic. So much so, that it has to be a carefully planned decision. Something tells me, we haven't heard the last of Arlo and he has some things lined up that he will ensure happen, even from the grave.

Arlo was a bad father and a dick till the very end. The way he died was perfect he went down fighting and kicking the ass of two guys and kept his own secrets till the very end.

Yeah, Arlo's death was very Arlo, and as much as it would have been nice for Raylan to get even a small dollop of the affection he's always craved, it wouldn't have felt right if he had.

The actor who plays Arlo said he discussed with the showrunner about Arlo maybe saying something different at the end but he was convinced by him that going out like the twat he had been all that time was the right way to go.

Loved the scene when Raylan casually admits he knows Arlo is dead and has done for an hour and is still fucking around trying to work out who Drew is. Rachel, Tim and Art all stare at him like he just admitted he clubs seals.

I was wondering if Shelby was Drew by the end of the episode because of what he said to Ellen May etc and reading here and elsewhere has cemented it.

I haven't quite decided if Johnny is yet another deep cover Boyd operation to keep Duffy off balance, it's more likely Johnny is genuinely pissed but I can't shake the feeling he is still Boyds man to the bone.

Colts going to end up killing either Ellen May or Eva before the season is out I suspect before he is murdered in turn by Boyd or Tim.

i have a feeling they are almost going to wrap up the Harlan side of the show.
it is at a point would not be surprised to most of them killed off, but really love to see Boyd and Eva live somewhat happily ever after....running their dairy queen lol
