So booked a short honeymoon to Vegas in August. Looking to stay at New York New York or the Paris. Anyone have any suggestions as to which one or what type of room? Not going nuts on the room because we aren't planning on being in it much, but would like one with a view of the strip for the obvious reasons.

Anyone stay at either?

I haven't stayed at either, but lived there for +5 years. Be prepared to sweat your ass off all day and night when you aren't indoors.

You'll be able to get a much better view from Paris, assuming you're facing west toward the Bellagio water fountain thing.http://goo.gl/maps/KBSDf

I stayed at NY-NY once, room wasn't much better than Holliday Inn quality, but I wasn't exactly forking out for a honeymoon suite or anything.

If you are looking to stay on the south end of the strip I recommend the Luxor. Get a tower room so you don't have to deal with the sloping wall that seems to annoy people. The Luxor also has hot tub suites in the pyramid which are nice. Also the Luxor has great showers, nice and big with good pressure. I think the Luxor basic rooms are as nice as Mandalay Bay basic rooms.

If you want to stay further north I recommend the TI (Treasure Island).

Both recommendations are based on prices similar to NYNY.

NYNY sucks IMO.

Ive been staying at Bally's lately and I love it. The basic rooms are nice, its in a great location right in the middle and the prices are usually cheaper than the rest.

You can get the brand new renovated MGM rooms pretty cheap. For the price, I don't think you can really beat those.

Usually I do Cesar's, but took the whole family last time so opted for Paris and was impressed, still centrally located to get around, and rooms were really nice, got a pretty decent view of the bellagio fountains. I've never stayed a nyny but haven't heard anything good most people I know don't go back. Being central is a huge perk unless you like walking through heat with a bunch of dirty smelly slow people. Also if your doing a buffet hit up wicked spoon at the Cosmo which is a short walk from Paris., best buffet in Vegas.

For Oblio and ToeMissle mostly I guess but open to all.

Rewatching the MvF Vegas episode and I'm interested in checking out Hash House-a-go-go when I'm there, is it worthwhile at all in terms of food and value? He also went to some shimp place that looked interesting but can't recall it's name to ask about.

Hash House is indeed awesome. I went to the one off the strip and I got that thing that was on the episode that had waffles w/ bacon inside of them and 2 huge pieces of chicken on a skewer, called Sage Fried Chicken. Very good.

Best deal I've gotten in Vegas for a great room was a suite in the MGM Signature towers. Rented it fromVRBO.

For a consistent fair price for a good room, I go for the Venetian.

Never stayed in NY, NY, but the rooms at Paris are decent. Weird trivia - for a while, Paris was marketing itself out as the gay/lesbian casino for Vegas, not sure if that's still the case (and nothing wrong with that...).

I really liked Encore - I was on their mailing list so got a good deal on a room there. It's a newer casino so I'd think most rooms are pretty nice. It's a bit far from the center of the strip though.

but I mean if you aren't planing on staying in the hotel why not get a decent hotel off the strip?

Eww in august. Could be worse I guess and come in july, but still going to deal with 100+ degree dry ass heat.

Summer is the only time to go to Vegas, it's pool party season. The pool parties at Encore Beach, Marquee Day, TAO Beach, and a few others are what make Vegas, Vegas.

Thinking of being random and going to vegas next week with the girlfriend.

March seems like a good time to go, weather in the 70s, apparently most pools are open. Just looking to get away for a couple days, not looking to spend a ton of money, any suggestions on a hotel with great pools? Was looking at Caesars, any thoughts?

Any recommendations on dive bars, restaurants, shows? Not looking for clubs or bottle service or any of that shit.

Mirage is nice and has great pools. Margaritaville is a cool restuarant with good food, if you go there at night they have live entertainment. LOVE is one of the best shows on the strip if you like The Beatles at all.

the NYNY room quality is wholey dependent on which tower you are booking the room in. If depends on what you're looking to do though, being on the corner is nice with the MGM, NYNY, Excalibur and Tropicana but the Paris will be more central to the strip.

It should also be noted that The Paris has a monorail station and for as much flack as the monorail gets at times, that shit is super convenient.
