Currently playing with a controller. New 1.2 targeting feels really good. Less carpal tunnel irritation for me.

As is tradition, just after reaching monos on my VK I got the itch to try something else, so rolled a Beastmaster with the intent of checking out storm crows/bear, but got bored halfway and rolled a Blade Dancer instead. Got to empowered monos really fast, even after it got nerfed a bunch from release it's still really smooth and easy with huge bursts of damage even with basically no gear. Using standard umbral blades shadow daggers+sync strike for now, I'm looking at either going lethal mirage or crit sync strike instead later on once I have some uniques.

Also yeah I did some leveling with pad and it played well. Inventory shit is still horrible imo so I just use my mouse for that, but for actually playing it works well enough, and especially for leveling since it's pretty braindead.

Wasn't going to play this season with Ashes of Creation server restart coming in May but decided to give it a go friday. I've never tried COF but figured since i missed launch would take the pressure off me of trying to reach 100 and get ahead of the economy on Merchant etc and just enjoy the ride.

Got the VK to 74 so far, i really enjoy erasing strike. Season 1 I had cracked top 100 with my own VK build leveraging shadow beacon and hybrid damage. Kinda doing that this time but once i unlock empowered think i'm going to try and do a void laser beam build with Erasing strike and shadow beacon. 60%+ more damage mod on all ES damage which includes the void lasers and the 80% more laser damage I think you can ramp up decent enough focusing on vitality and general void % damage to help both w/ initial ES hit and then lasers. Might play w/ smite or devouring orb with it (smite for mana replenish to support void essence).

Worse case go back to just melee damage focus which still fucking does insane damage when you stack the echo repeating node on it and essence voids to replenish mana.

I want to dust off my old werebear build I built a guide back in beta for as well. Looks like they lowered damage of EQ but if you mass stack cool down with new bhuldar's i think double EQ's in 5 seconds could still be nasty but will see what gear I can farm up for him.

Alot of good QOL from when I played last and new content seems decent enough. No complaints early on anyway, still an amazing game with such a strong crafting and gearing system with alot of unique build options.4

Check this build out:

It uses Javelin but its a really nice guide from early leveling to end game. Really smooth progression throughout the campaign.

Just got a unique spear that looks like it was meant for that build. Was wondering "is there a build for this?" and came here and saw your post.

Goddamnit, I played this game for a month or two with my buddies when I hit 1.0, playing a void knight. We stopped because when we got to the time World instance end game, we just really didn't care that much.

From what you guys are saying though, I'm tempted to fire it back up. I really hope they manage to make a fun game, because it is, but maybe they can be something that you can play quite a bit or at least every season or whatever the hell.

It might not be a better game but I enjoy playing it a lot more than POE2. The engine/combat sync and responsiveness feels way better 1.2 than it did at launch. Going to start out doing a hammer/javalin Pally again without doing too much research and see where that takes me. Way easier to respec everything in LE.

Having the zone completely reset whenever you leave will require some getting use to. Right now I find it borderline game breaking for me.

Yeah this is somewhat irritating and now remembering back to beta and not liking it. Especially for the hub zone(s). I can deal with it on maps. Well, you can deal with it on both but hubs seem easy to lock.

It's definitely an ARPG loot/crafting simulator. Which I like. I waste a lot of time min/maxxing my gear that would be better spent grinding monos but that's one of the things I like most about the genre. Huge reason I quit POE2 so early this go around as well.

Well THIS got a lot better. Wow.

I can't find a flaw outside the boring ass campaign, and the shit way the make you earn the right to use the AH.

Once you finish the campaign what should you be doing. Just grinding monoliths for the best chance at loot?

How I raise the level of the monoliths?

It is the worst gameplay decision they refuse to back down on to date. However, along with the loot filters it prevents the OCDs among us from going back to base to sell 485 times per zone.

But, yeah, it be serious dumb.

Monoliths and the end game dungeons. I rotate between the two to keep it less monotonous. Progress through the monoliths until you unlock the three in the middle to unlock Empowered monoliths. Then you raise the corruption in those which is leveling them up for better items.

All the zones are relatively small.

Why are you finding yourself having to backtrack through zones?

The loot has zero gold value, so it's not like in PoE2 to where you collect stuff to vendor for gold and have to constantly port in and out to sell in the first stages of the game.

Campaign is pretty straight forward and even offers map indicators of which way to progress in the zone to find the objective, ao there is minimal running around every nook and cranny looking for the elusive quest item.

I dunno I can’t get myself to get into this. After 12 years of Poe my brain is fried to anything ‘not that.’ somehow this game feels very , basic? Dunno if that’s fair; maybe it’s just not frustrating enough, or something. Might have battered wire syndrome.

kind of having the same issue with poe2 as well. I just need a good Poe(1) league and endgame content update or I might just give up on arpgs entirely. Not sure what I’d even play then, maybe just watch more porn

My main complaint with the campaign is that I spend 3/4 of my time looking at the minimap beelining to the objective markers. I just finished the final boss at lvl ~55 and I don't think I stopped running the entire time.

The campaign is basically only there to start teaching you basic mechanics and that's it. The devs have stated they want to funnel people into end game loops without any kind of big time sink.

The end game is just kind of lacking. They are taking steps to try to make it more engaging but truthfully, procedural content and "infinite" scaling are not very interesting things. Procedural content doesn't keep things "fresh" it just kind of kills any identity any certain mechanics might have and infinite scaling is just kind of confusing because players aren't entirely sure where they "should" be on the difficulty ladder.

They need to provide alternatives for the quests that give passive points and idol slots, then. Or did I miss that?

I agree. I think it's our fault as gamers because we complain that there isn't an infinite amount of content to be consumed whenever we want it. You can't have both that and a hand-crafted feel (until AI gets a lot better). This is further poisoned by GaaS models. I think we need to re-normalize the idea that it's ok to win a game and stop.
