Enforcing the meta is the most ridiculous argument I've heard against role que. The meta is already enforced whether you like it or not. Do ANYTHING slightly out of the current "meta" and you will be ridiculed and reported. Every game is solo top/jungler/mid/duo bot, the community enforces this, not RIOT. As others have stated before if you want to try something different, pull some friends together and form your own team. But I'm glad a team captain will be able to compose his team however he wants so now role que is doing the exact opposite of what you and others said it would do. And guess what, besides maybe some sillyness the first few weeks I bet you 99% of teams in this new que method will be solo top/jungler/mid/adc+support bot and once again it won't be riot enforcing it.
I poop on the meta for a living. I look forward to pooping on this meta builder as well.

I suggested this exact idea and implementation to Lyte in this very thread several months back.

I'm sorry.

It would be nice to see a kind of dungeon finder queue system for LoL. Pick a role, stick with it, wait in queue, profit. Hell, you could even try giving a different ELO level based on the individual queue roles. That way a gold level Support wouldn't be gold level Jungle when they're really a silver level Jungle.
It's all my fault. My ideas are bad and I should feel bad.

So about 90% of my friends that play mobas play league. My only motivation for playing this style of game is because it's nice to be able to have an easy game to jump on and grab a game for 45 minutes with them.

One of my friends that only play's HoN let slip that there's next to no skill shots compared to league. Is this true? and how mercilessly can I rib him for constantly talking about how HoN takes more skill even though it has no "skill" shots =p.

The only reason HoN and DotA are considered more difficult than league is how punishing it is to die. Not only does the killer gain gold, but the person who dies loses gold. Having played both, I see a much larger skill cap in league than i do DotA / HoN.

also Dota players claim that denying = more skill
I always thought this claim is funny, you deny in LoL as well except you do it by harassment/zoning. I always found it much more challenging and interesting to deny and creep at the same time in LoL as you are doing multiple different things simultaneously. Not to mention playing a denial game in LoL exposes you far more than just having to double creep.

Time to get back into this again. Is there a way to get good other than play a lot? Like, some videos I could watch that will show me how not to be terrible?

If you've played before all you'll need to do is play an appropriate amount of games to show you the new champions that have come around since you've been gone. By then, you should be back to normal. Depending on your skill there, watch pros who main the champs you want to play, and learn to cs and ward.

You'll have to play a lot. Watching videos might help with some concepts but your mechanics will be so rusty. I don't know when you played, how long you played for, what rank you are. If you were decent before than it shouldn't take long to brush up. Focus on 1-2 champions for a while until your game sense is back.

First things first, which should be obvious, is that there is no substitution for practice and muscle memory. That and learning what other champs do and learning the flow of the game.

That being said, I'm a "new" player. I just hit level 30 after 4 months or so of playing the game. I have a lot of time in front of a PC, but due to family I don't have a lot of gaming time. What I've done, that really helps me out, is I pick a new champ to learn then head over to the Fiss Mortune channel on youtube (or Fiss Mortune.RED) and watch some pros play champs. I enjoy watching Voyboy the most since he often describes what he's doing from a rune/masteries point of view and then provides diagnosis for what's going on in the game.

Then after watching a few pros play a champ, I'll get time to play it myself. Then I go back and watch the videos again. First time I watch them, I get a sense of abilities, the usage and the builds.

The second time I watch them, I pick up on details. How often are they using abilities, what are the comboing. How do they position themselves in lane. When do they push, when do they sit back, when they B. How they work in team fights. etc.

After this and a few extra games, I get a good basic feel of a champ.

Looks like League is putting in Mystery Gifts which is a cool idea.

I'll be giving out some Gifts, courtesy of Junkiesnation.com, randomly to people on my friends list in the coming weeks. So if you want a chance, hit me up "Mr Razorface". I guess you have to be my friend for 2 weeks before getting a gift.

LOL. Have you done any ranked yet, Draegan? S3 ends Oct 30th, should try to do your promos at least, maybe you'll get placed in Silver (or if lucky, gold) and you'll get the rewards. As long as you're not bronze you'll at least get something

I doubt I'll be getting Plat before the deadline so I'd be willing to duo w/ whoever.

My brother in law has been waiting patiently for 3 months for me to hit 30. He gets back from a business trip tonight. So, probably tonight or something tomorrow.
