I believe what he means is get rid of the tier 1/2/3 rune system so you can start building your real rune pages from the start and also give everyone at all levels access to full 30pts of masteries and all of the summoner abilities. This is something I have thought as well. It doesn't really affect me personally since i've been 30 since near beta but I would think it would be better for the game as a whole. That way the level 29 doesn't have as much of an innate advantage over the level 10 even tho the level 10 may be a better player.
I always assumed that the point of having to level your account to unlock the rune and mastery pages was so that your account had more value, and it was less about it being a particularly fun or interesting mechanic. Basically, you would be less likely to be a douchebag in game, knowing that you couldn't just hop on another free account if that one got banned. Leveling an account to 30 isn't so long, but it's not so trivial that you would ignore that factor.

That said, the value quickly becomes your stable of champions and skins.

I always saw the leveling from 1 to 30 as the game's version of a tutorial. It eased you into picking out runes, learning the mastery trees, summoner spells etc.. while playing against other somewhat new players so you aren't always stomped.

Having a leveling scheme to put everyone a approximately similar playing field by the time they start to ladder is fine (Such as, before you ladder you should have around 300 games played or something like League does). I think that that actually benefits the game significantly. Being primarily a DOTA player for many years, I come to think of all the Heroes as cards in your deck so to speak. Once you choose to play your hand (Hero), you should be on an equal playing field to everyone else. Runes and Masteries take away from that. In that way I think DOTA2 has it right.

Took the advice on Dominion
You should try Custom, Blind Pick / Draft, the Proving Grounds, 1 LANE all MID, super fun and non stop action.
Even better than Dominion (where 1 person can fail and cost you the game).

I think the "get lvl30" is a good way to force people to learn the game before doing "serious stuff", it doesn't eliminate fucktards, but at least after 300 games under your belt, you should be able to "know the basics".

My biggest complain would be that there is no automatic queue for "The Proving Grounds", i get about 20IP per Game now.
There's only 2 ways to get IP : Summoner's (boring as hell) Dominion (less boring, but not as fun as ARAM/ABAM).

Their "insane champion & skin production" exists because it's their only income, since the game is free, and there is no "pay to win".
They HAVE to gouge you somewhere.... so it's going to be with Skins & New Champs (bait & switch).

I like the runes & masteries because they let you customize your champion of choice's early game the way you want it to be. If you know you're going to have a hard match up in lane you can tailor your choices to suit that or maybe you know you can all in your opponent at 4 with a certain build/rune setup so you go for that and build your runes & masteries in accordance to that. It does a good job of spicing the game up. It's also not hard to come up with a generic rune page for all roles by the time you hit 30, the only problem I have with the system is that buying level 10 or 20 runes is a complete waste of IP and can hold you back from having a set of pages ready to go at 30.

haha.. I watched it, only cause the professional gamer life is kind of interesting to me.. but I really can't imagine that being a successful endeavor.. we'll see, maybe the bar is pretty low for online web series.

Ok so I have just started playing, 4 games in.
Having a blast playing but most games seem to have one or a few fakenoobs blasting about so it can be a bit tough to learn at times.
Are there any obvious in hindsight bits of advice and whatnot?
Thanks a ton.

Biggest obvious hindsight thing I can think of is, once you reach level 10, you can buy Tier 2 runes. Don't do it. They aren't much more effective than tier 1, but they cost a LOT more IP, and once you hit level 20 you can get the best runes in the game, so they're a pretty big waste when you want to be saving IP for champions and tier 3 runes. And when you hit level 10 the default option to buy tier runes will be tier 2, so make sure to go back down to tier 1 runes til lvl 20. Also try to play every champ you can on the free to play week, find a few you really like and master them, but it helps learning all of them when you play em all a few times. Also if you're having a rough time with smurfs or bad teammates/luck, you can also get your win of the day queueing up to play against AI. Set it to easy and blow them up, just don't expect real people to play like them, but it's an easy win for a lot of IP if you still need your win of the day.

I'm hyper aggressive. What character should I play that can keep up the aggression without hurting my team?

Any late game champ so that you can teach yourself to kick that bad habit. Aggression can be very good, but youhaveto learn when it's ok and when it isn't. Playing always aggresive will result in losses guaranteed.

You can't be hyper aggressive with any champion. You need to learn patience and when to strike. Top lane might be your safest bet because you CAN go super-aggressive as long as you ward up and keep an eye out for ganks, but if a jungler starts to fuck you over you need to learn to back off and farm. If you do happen to get the upper-hand you can really drive the lane home. Basically top-lane can come down to whoever gets the 1st kill or 1st gank in their favor. It snowballs super fast.

Jungler might be a better avenue because you can be super-aggressive in the aspect that you can continuously gank lanes, but in terms of farming you are simply playing PvE and can't fuck up in that regard. If you go too deep on a gank that would be really bad. A jungler can't give kills to the enemy during ganks, it will fuck over your lanes. An aggressive jungler will constantly apply pressure and be satisfied with making the enemy blow a summoner spell. Kills are NOT required everytime you gank.

Denial is another aggressive strategy. Counterjungling or denying CS in lane are both very effective and aggressive tactics. Being an aggressor doesn't always mean you have to get kills.

Most of the FOTM champs are able to be played aggressively. Xin Xao or Vi would be very good candidates if you don't mind jungling. Akali is good for a top or mid but you need to NOT be aggressive until you are level 6. ADCs typically can't be aggressive on their own, you farm CS and wait for your support to initiate and during team fights you need to hang back and wait for your bruisers to initiate. ADC doesn't initiate. ADCs do carry and deal the highest damage in game but can't be used as an aggressor.

I really enjoy aggressive supports when I ADC. I am always ready to pounce on a target. I get frustrated if I have a passive support. Likewise, I hate supporting where the ADC is super-passive and won't attack when I initiate as a support. You can be very aggressive as a support but you will likely get frustrated if paired with a passive ADC. Aggressive supports (in no particular order): Alistar, Leona, Taric, Sona, Thresh, Lulu.

You can't be a truly effective jungler until probably level 20 with a full rune page of at least t1 runes. You could only play a select few junglers whom it would even be worth while to jungle.

Here are my top picks for aggressive per lane

Top: Riven
Jungle: Hecarim
Mid: Katarina
ADC: Miss Fortune
Support: Leona

Draven is a better pick for an aggressive ADC, nobody can match his early game damage, he has a movement speed boost and a slow, he isn't as reliant on a support harassing.
I main MF and while I play her aggressively, you can't just go all-in, you need to sit back, farm, harass with AA-->Q-->AA, but you need to wait for your support to initiate if you want a kill.

Very true and I agree with that. But with MF, I take advantage of her passive movement speed and I try to auto attack every time they go to last hit (assuming I don't lose CS or too much CS while doing it). Stick and move if you will.

On-hit twitch is pretty fun. I 1v3'd Kass Garen and Olaf, killed Kass and Garen and got away with flash + invis.

hahaha.. I just started liking the LCS a lot more. Been rooting for certain teams to get their act together, and make it look more like professional sports (like nba/nfl where any team can win on any night because the skill differential is close enough even between last and first place teams) and looks like it may end up being that way. Giving the teams forced matches every week lets each team get in good practice over time and will only strength the NA/EU scenes overall.. which is amazing, was not looking forward to total asian dominance in this game for season 3. Good job riot!

edit: I should clarify, even the teams that hadn't won yet, were rarely getting roflstomped in games.. so I knew they had it in them to win already, just wanted them to get some wins for morale.
