Wow, actually every matchup besides 1 in our league was really close. Two of them decided by less than 1 point. 188.30-188.16, 216.97-211.17, 224.38-223.73...then the one blowout, 257.81-165.53.

Hoping for a close fantasy season! Obviously I've got 1st place, but should be fun to see who gets 2nd...

1-8 in placements so far....I'm in queue for last game, wonder how far I'll drop! lol. Plat 3 last season............This is getting exciting! I'm thinking either like silver 1 or 2, or maybe like gold 4 or something.

Whelp, 2-8 in placements, went, 0-3, 1-3, 1-8, 2-8. Like that. Last season I was ~mid plat 3 at the end. After placements I'm Gold 4. w00t!

To be fair, I know I'll never get challenger (maaaybe I could get d5), but man, most seasons you get all the rewards at gold, so why should I bother trying so hard now? pshhhhh. Nope, gotta get diamond this season, that's my goal!!!

As someone who has not played League in years but actively enjoys watching it, this new meta is really fucking boring. It feels like there is no mechanism for a team to come back. Got an early lead? YOU WIN!

Games have been really boring so far. Hopefully that's just new season conclusion jumping. I hope so.

Define early lead.
I'm not a meta expert but it seems to me since dragon no longer gives gold teams can't force dragon fights. That one fact alone lets teams that have gotten ahead force the hand of their opposition much earlier which typically results in severely lopsided games.

Of course it's only the first week, but there have been very few competitive games so far. Hopefully it's just most teams still adjusting to the new meta and not a direct result of the map changes

IMO dragon isn't worth contesting unless it is for the first buff due to the damage increase. Other than that I would rather take a tower or 2 off you worrying about if we are coming to dragon or not.

I think it's the opposite tbh. The games remain closer for much longer since Baron & Dragon do not grant gold. It's much harder to snowball the game via objectives.
The buff from Baron can still be used as a comeback mechanic though.

Still too early for me to say but the LCS didn't seem boring this past week. Especially considering the number of upsets and that there is only one 2-0 team after week 1.

I enjoyed the games, but I do think something needs to change with dragon. My initial thoughts are to reduce the respawn time to make getting the 5 stack a more obtainable objective in a 30-40 minute game. The buffs beyond the first are kind of dismissed right now but they do add appreciable stats, people just don't see the effects very well. But increasing the number of dragons per game makes letting a team just control dragon all the team a bad proposition.

I think they need to put gold back on the dragon, just less than before.

So many times right now where you just don't give a shit if they take it.

1) Baron grants gold.
2) Sure Dragon doesn't but Khane's point stands. You can't force a dragon fight because the other team just doesn't care. That affords you less opportunity to catch them off guard to start mounting a comeback. If one team is ahead, they just play conservatively and maintain their advantage which continues to increase over time.

Oh woops. That's what I get for not paying attention to LoL during preseason.

yeah, even phreak was basically complaining about dragon during the lcs games. pretty much said the same thing. "dragon is pointless before level 12, or so."
