Well I don't know too much about them, this is the first I'm hearing of them. I wouldn't expect them to be competitive with the top teams, I think the likelihood of finding 5 female gamers who could compete with 5 male gamers is pretty damn small. Even if females and males are on equal footing(I'm not saying whether they are or aren't) their talent pool is sooooo much smaller. The suggestion that their formation is somehow wrong is what I don't get...what's wrong with forming an all-female team with the intention of gaining viewership and interest leading to monetization?

In terms of a profit model, even if it's a temporary arrangment, there isn't anything wrong with it. In terms of trying to actually promote women in competitive League of Legends play it's an awful gimmick that sets women back and reinforces numerous negative stereotypes for the gender.

I think that is the gripe people have, the team was formed with the premise that it be competitive and here you see the team has disbanded. They were basically a con-job, a high tech con-job. They didn't follow through with their "goal" (because, like you suggest, their real goal could have been simply to make a team that generates money through viewership and not on the competitive scene) as the community viewed it to be and simply took the money and ran.

EDIT:

it's an awful gimmick that sets women back and reinforces numerous negative stereotypes for the gender.
THIS..

I honestly feel bad for TRUE, SKILLED female gamers after events like this; they get looked at in such a light already that most promoters / sponsors don't want to touch female gamers and much less, TEAMS.

Events like this hurt the community and the gamers themselves.

Well I don't know too much about them, this is the first I'm hearing of them.
This video will explain everything:

They have rediculous goals, rediculous quotes that are now everywhere, even the pros have been throwing "siren quotes" into their interviews.
The video should have been a more fun, bubbly, "hi, we are siren, some day we hope we can become pro", type of deal. Not "WINNING IS EVERYTHING!!!".

Quotes:
"This is bigger than us"
"Losing is not an option"
"With millions of dollars at stake"
"We have a chance to make history"
Popular:"I'll bait you and out-smart you"(in chess??)
"This is everything"
Popular:"I'm a siren"

I don't think it sets women gamers back at all to have some visibility. I guess that's the crux of my disagreement. As far as they shouldn't have been so boastful, that's ridiculous. Fail or succeed, you don't enter any serious competitive arena with the chant "let's all do our best".

They never entered a competitive arena.
Nor did they have anything to back-up their words.

It's like bronze V players boasting how good they are, you know what the reactions will be, they will get flamed to hell and put in their place. You can't boast if you never do anything. If they entered even 1 tournament maybe I'd give them a slight pass. All they did was stream online and be drama for 2 weeks. TWO WEEKS... Team already disbanded.

A good support is far more than "spam spells on cooldown in teamfight and die"; there are always ways to improve your game and increase the odds of your team winning. And as I pointed out earlier, just winning a few more percentage points of your games is the difference between a player stuck in a division and a player who is climbing the ladder. If you want to carry the game via killing people with your own AP, then you need to play mid and not support.
My only problem with the game is that I'm still very noobish when it comes down to nuanced play. I'm still learning champ synergy and counters. I'm only getting down the nuances of warding bot jungle to some degree and why I should be doing it. Not only that, learning to just play the game mechanically enough so that I'm confident enough to take my attention off of immediate play and gain more map awareness along with awareness of opponents building.

You'll have to give me a few more weeks to learn blue/red timers.

Also, you just wrote a wall of text that just told me I suck. Respekt. I'll see ya on tonight. lol

Oh by the way, thanks for the recommendation on Zyra. Pretty awesome champ and I think it might be where I want to be playstyle-wise. I found a really cool video of a Zyra support:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VD16IiJisbs

The problem is what people saw with that visibility. What they saw was essentially a group of somewhat decent, but not at all "competitive" players reaping in money for nothing more than having tits. Seriously, the team got trashed multiple times in random diamond league match ups. So it was obvious they were not sponsored for any type of skill, but solely on the basis that they had vaginas. And that kind of preferential treatment is exactly why women have difficulties in any type of competitive scene--everyone assumes they got there by having breasts, rather than skill, and watching these players fail against non-tournament, random teams, while being sponsored absolutely reinforces that.

(Also, they were absolutely graceless winners and terrible losers--their trash talking was ridiculous. They would barely eek out some wins and then start typing "OMG EASY!")

That wasn't what I meant to say at all; I was trying to illustrate how a support influences the game in ways other than damage-dealing. However, suck is all relative. You -want- to play support and you want to improve. I'd gain ELO faster duo-queuing with you than the majority of people who get forced into support in Gold III. It'd be rough for a few games but solo-queuing and playing ADC is rough MOST of the time due to shitty supports. Its an unpopular role because of the misconceptions. It doesn't help that when the ADC carries hard at the 40 minute mark no one gives mad props to the support for making sure he got there in the first place.

this duo queue is a prime example of issues in Silver ><

I understand the desire to play with friends and whatnot but at some point you have an issue where one player is very skilled and another is dead weight. The only solution I can see is making it so that both players must be in the same Tier, a 10 division difference is fairly significant when you are talking silver vs bronze.

The problem with that restriction is that, once again, actual divisions are almost meaningless. MMR is what actually matters and you can't see that (except a rough estimate off lolking or some similar site). In this case, it seems likely that those people are in their appropriate divisions, but a blanket rule like that is not going to help anyone.

Go in to the game with a positive attitude, work on improving your own game play, communicate only helpfully with your team, ignore assholes, report trolls/afk'ers, and your game experience will be better. I've only had one d/c in my ranked games so far and it was clearly not on purpose, and sure it cost me a win in my placements but shit is gonna happen. I've been largely at fault for my losses since placements finished but I was largely responsible for keeping my team going in my placements so you just have to work with what you've got. I prefer ranked over normals at this point, and I'm only in Silver I yet.

I agree about the hidden MMR part and I know about it (part of the reason that made the guy in bronze 5 with the gold tier MMR funny) but I think a clamp on something like a 5 division difference max would influence nearly every case of extremes in queues.

The 2nd part I agree with 100%. The game I was in right after that one was a game we won but a guy on our team basically shit all over the team in order to justify him squashing the ADC after he...and the team...decided on roles. "You banned malph [my words:when we weren't first pick]? FINE, I go ADC!" We went on to win it but it was no small part due to the other team being bad.
