Don't think i've posted here before, But I came over when FOH dumped.

Anyways, i play on the NA server. Started playing less than 2 months ago as malzahar and teemo. I can usually kick some ass with teemo, but he's not strong enough by himself late game IMO. I never play malzahar anymore.

Anyways, I was hoping someone would be willing to mentor me a little bit on Jayce. Just picked him up yesterday, few good games, few bad games. I am only level 23, so not doing ranked yet, but I'd like plenty of practice and advice on Jayce if anyone is willing.

Mariospeedwagon on NA server (not the same mario from fohguild)

I've been getting into LoL a little bit and was looking for some confirmation about Runes. My google searches have only found articles that are a bit older and I don't want to go off bad info.

Is this a good shopping list of Runes to work towards?
I wouldn't waste the IP on health quintessences anymore. I don't think I use them on a single page for any role.

Still new, but the toon I've been playing recently is Ryze. I do pretty well with him (keep in mind I'm still lvl 8), and I love the fact that his item build inherently makes him have ultra HP/Mana while toward the end of the game he ramps up to be a monster. Any opinions or suggestions concerning such?

He's good. Do you use smart cast? Use smart cast.

I resisted using it for forever pretty much, but it will make things much easier for you on a ton of characters.

Yeah - use smart cast and make sure you build your tear of the goddess into a Muramasa that converts into a Muramana and not an Archangel's Staff. It may seem odd but the toggle you get on your Muramana makes Ryze a beast.

Smart cast has a tendency to trade accuracy for speed, but with a champion like Ryze who has no skillshots, it's definitely a no brainer to use smart-cast for everything. I've seen a few pro's rush a tear of the goddess and transition then into catalyst -> RoA and start getting tanky. I haven't seen too many others comment on other items, it sounds like you have a general idea but Frozen Heart, Banshee's Veil, Rod of Ages, Muramasa AND even a Seraph's Embrace afterwards are all great choices on him (those items aren't listed in order of what you should be getting). You probably know most of these things already though. But yeah Ryze is an amazing mid, his late game is really strong

Smartcast is really the way to go for pretty much every champion. Even if they are skillshot heavy I'd still say start using it now, as it's just plain faster. You'll learn the accuracy the more time you spend with it.

You know, i used to have the exact same opinion, but lately after seeing a lot of pro's streaming, and how a LOT of them playing in challenger tier and whatnot don't use smartcast for a bunch of skillshots i'm beginning to wonder about that again.

Managed to get my first ranked game pentakill. With MF of course but this was one of the few times I didnt go "standard" build and just so happens I landed a penta.
We were stomping the other team so for the lols I had:
BT, Shiv, Hurricane, Sword of Occult.

Had 9 stacks on occult before the penta, 19 after... 1 away from max stacks -- I never got 20 before lol.

I just happened to be streaming the game so here's a video

I have QWER as smartcast and shift + QWER as dumbcast, which is great since I can aim really easily if I'm not sure the range of something will hit (cough Lux Ult)

Yea... I used to think smartcast was what all the pros did, until I watched Froggen playing Anivia and seeing him (on the champ he is most feared to play) using dumbcast on all her skillshots. So, when the arguably best Anivia player in the world is using dumbcast to gauge the range/angle on his skillshots on that champ, then I'm not ashamed to use it for some champions. Now, yes, smartcast does save you fractions of seconds that can be a big deal in a lot of circumstances.. but it's really a tossup between the champion, the specific ability, and your personal playstyle.

Having the aiming reticule to land a blitzcrank grab can help increase your accuracy, but that extra half a second can also make you miss some grabs you would have otherwise have made, for example. It just depends on what you are comfortable with.

Now, with non-skillshot abilities, I see no reason not to smartcast. I play Ryze a lot, and I always smartcast all of his abilities.

There are a few skills that are better without smartcast. If you play alot of DIFFERENT champs, you might want to leave smartcast off on a few.
Cass's twinfang. smartcast all day, every day..

You can see the aiming reticule no matter if smartcast is on or not, not sure what you all are talking about but most pros I watch use smartcast.

Hold the skill button down and you can aim the reticule and be as precise as you want. Right-click to avoid casting the ability.

Yep, like the two above said, all smartcast all the time. It may look like dumbcast, but it's not. You get the best of both worlds: hold the button to aim/be more precise, or just mash it if you need something quick. Ezrael is my prime example for this, as pretty much always smartcast QWE with him, but probably 90% of the time for his R I'll hold it down to be sure I'm pointing it the right way.

I don't use smartcasting. I just hold shift when I want to smartcast a spell. Playing mmo's for so long has made holding shift to use an ability second nature for me.

Has anyone done a best of 5 tier promotion yet? Was just curious to see if it is similar difficulty (as in the level of play) as the best of 3's for division promotion.
