Clear jungle camps always and depending on which jungle camp you're on, keep an eye on the lane that is close. For instance, if top lane is pushing toward the enemy tower, just ignore it and go farm because for the most part solo queue tower diving is always a bad idea. Yet if middle lane is slowly pushing towards your tower, maybe do wolves then go towards mid as it's pushing. Just always keep an eye out for which lanes are pushing and then clear the jungle camps on the way as you're working there.

It all changes depending on the vision you get though. If you see the enemy jungler going towards bottom, you can either skip a camp to counter gank him, forcing it into a 3v3, go into his jungle and take his creeps, setting him behind, or if you're teammates are smart enough they'll just back off a bit and be safe, which should put you ahead a bit, assuming you're doing jungle camps.

About levels, you should be pretty far behind in levels unless you are lane taxing quite a bit. Everytime you get a successful gank, you should push the lane hard, forcing the enemy laner to lose lots of creeps on the tower or lets you kill a tower. Don't be afraid to "gank" middle and instead just walk past it, soaking up a couple minions of xp. (this is my favorite lol) If you're not getting ganks off and not really taxing lanes, you'll probably be about the same level as your duo lane.

My question is: I have a hard time actually jungling. I mean, killing jungle monsters. Most of the time I'm running all over the map trying to counter gank / even up team fights / help people that are screwing up or doing something dangerous. I'm often a level or two behind the enemy team by mid game. My team fighting is pretty solid so I often catch up and contribute there, but how do I improve? Am I supposed to say "fuck that guy, come here wolves"? Even when the jungle monsters are on my way, I still get bitched at for stopping at any point and not helping them RIGHT NAOW!!1
Could be your build maybe. Are you running flat ad reds? Is your team helping you get a good leash so you can save smite for the 2nd buff?

If you see a good opportunity to gank, you should. Otherwise just get your farm on and farm quick. Gotta also make sure to be using your smite as often as possible but know when to save it for dragons n such.

As a random comment on jungling, a LOT of the big junglers should use attack speed reds, it makes their early jungling a billion times faster than AD/ARP/whatever else.

Jungling:

Champion plays a huge part of how you should jungle. A champ like Xin is meant to be a "carry" jungler, which means ganking more than farming. Xin's clear time isn't as fast as some other junglers but he's a monster at ganking and securing kills. Jarvan and Vi would also be considered more of a "carry". You get your gold more from kills and assists. You still clear monster camps as much as possible but you should be applying lane pressure very often. Xin, Jarvan & Vi are outliers in that they are carries whereas most other junglers are meant to just get tanky and feed kills to the lanes. As a "jungle carry" you actually want the kills for yourself.

When jungling you should expect to acquire the same amount of gold as your support and be around the same level as your bottom lane. You'll never keep up with the solo laners unless you are getting the kills.

Runes:
Every champion has their unique needs but I'd say for the vast majority of junglers you will want something similar to this:
Attack Speed Marks (+15% attack speed)
Movement Speed Quints (+4.5% movespeed)
Flat Armor Seals (+12.7 armor)
Magic Resist per Level Glyphs (+24 magic resist at level 18)

Attack Speed helps clear camps faster and has synergy with some jungler's abilities such as Vi's W as well as some others.
Move Speed helps with ganks, chasing down foes and getting through the jungle faster.
Flat Armor helps you vs the jungle camps, flat armor is better for the early benefits vs jungle monsters.
Magic resist isn't necessary vs jungle camps so the mr per level will help you out going into late game vs the AP carries.

Masteries:
So many options here, all depends on your goal for the game and what you expect to do. Most of the time I'll do either 0-21-9 or 9-21-0.

The game:
The vast majority of the time I start wolves-->Blue. Even champions that can't benefit from blue, I'll start blue for a couple reasons. 1.) So that I get the assistance from lanes and can get a proper "smiteless". At lower elo a lot of players won't assist with red as much since it takes longer to get back to lanes. 2.) So that Blue respawns faster and can be given to the mid. 3.) I have the option to counterjungle and gank the enemy jungler at their red or steal their red. If you start red then you usually won't have the option to steal the enemy jungler's buff since the closest will be Blue and it's likely they are starting blue. The benefit to starting red is you know they won't steal your buff, but starting red also means you should gank almost immediately. Red buff is important for ganks. Do not start red if you don't intend to do a level 2 gank.

To be a successful jungler, you need to ward and countergank, as well as applying your own pressure. You do not have to counterjungle, but if you can then you also help gain an advantage. An easy counterjungle tip is to buy at least 1 ward on your first back and place it in the enemy team's blue bush before 7:30. You'll be able to smite-steal or contest the blue upon respawn once you have the vision.

Counterganking is a much-needed skill. Expect the enemy jungler to mostly mirror your movements, when you are at your red, they are likely at theirs. Logically, you will probably gank bottom or mid and the enemy jungler will likely gank top or mid. With that in mind, be a move ahead and instead of trying to gank bottom, perhaps head toward top lane. If you get to the top lane and the enemy jungler isn't there, it's likely they've backed due to low health from monster camps or went bottom to farm wolves. You can use this opportunity to gank top lane, which will be less expected, or you can counterjungle wraiths or golems if they are up. Keep an eye on the enemy jungler and try to stay a move ahead. Counterganking is important because normally what happens is they show their hand first and do not expect you to be there, you will have all the advantage to turn the gank around in your favor.

Practice practice practice.

A big part of counterganking is getting wards into their jungle. If you can have vision of them moving around their own jungle it will be easy to countergank them. My favorite spots are their blue and wraiths. Just make sure you know where their jungler is before you go in to ward. Even if you can 1v1 their jungler any good laners will converge on you and it'll be hard to make it out alive.

If your team isn't warding jungle entrances/exits in river very well it might be better to just pick up their slack there and encourage them to buy wards. Nothing makes me rage harder on bot blue side than the Rammus or Hecarim coming flying out from behind tri-bush at the speed of light because the river below mid wasn't warded. Against most junglers down there you can just ward tri and still be safe but those with movement speed mean it's still unsafe. Also if you drop that ward on river below mid it frees up support to only need his bot river and maybe 2nd bot bush warded to cover ganks. Can ask bot lane to come with you to steal their blue and drop a ward on it, especially if their jungler is top. If they see you and pursue you're likely to win the engagement as you outnumber them and can then dragon.

When mid-game rolls around wards in their jungle are even more important and often wins the game. Catching out enemies solo or in smaller groups ends up being devastating to their objectives and gives your team a big advantage.

Also, get used to timing buffs and dragon/baron and calling them into chat for your team after they die. With it in chat anyone can easily just pop it open and check timer (hotkey z so you don't need to scroll up). And don't forget to remind your team with plenty of time when they're spawning soon and use pings about 20-30s out to make sure. 5:00 on red/blue, 6:00 on dragon, 7:00 on baron.

Phreak is an awesome streamer. I wish he could find more time to stream as I don't get that type of entertainment from other streamers. On a side note, congratulations on gold two sir.

I knew Riot gives all the pros and staff all the champs and skins but I wasn't sure how exactly they did it. It was funny to see on his stream that he has 550,000 IP and 350,000 RP on his account.

So Surrender at 20 is hosting a 128 team tournament:http://www.surrenderat20.net/p/2013-ionian-circuit.html

Anyone want to form up a group? Looks like we don't even have to make an official "ranked" team to join. If more than 128 teams sign up they will be randomly selecting the entries.

I haven't played much team stuff or any tournaments but this one seems casual enough that I would be interested in trying it. My play times vary but mostly can schedule to play after 5pm EST, ideally the team should be able to play the same times. Quarterfinals-->Finals will all take place at 10pm EST in July. Prior to the quarterfinals we simply setup the matches with the opposing teams ourselves and email in a victory screenshot if we win.

We can have as many subs as we want.

Sign-ups are May 18th to May 22nd.

Prizes aren't anything special (other than the ryze skin):
1st place: $20 RP + Triumphant Ryze per player
2nd place: $15 RP per player
3rd place: $10 RP per player
4th place: $5 RP per player

I'll try to organize this if people are interested. Let me know availability you can play, best roles, in-game rank (if any), and if you prefer to be a starter or a sub.

For myself:

Times: After 5:30 pm EST on weekdays. Available most weekends if I have advanced notice
Roles: Mid & Adc
Rank: Silver III
Prefer to be: Starter

Hecarim isn't always banned. When he isn't, I'm reminded why he should be. Though our Garen and Elise would have dominated w/o my help. fun game where i felt bad for the other side.

i'm silver II, so that plays into it as well

They just changed the formulas. I only know this because 3 of the 5 people on my 5's team just got green banners today.

Yup, I got a green banner yesterday too. I figured they must of changed the formula because my next game had 4 of 5 people with banners. (3 of them were "great leader" and myself had green for "great teammate")

@buffylol: what's your IGN?

Need at least 3 more for tourney group, any extras for subs would be great.
