That's why I prefaced it with the fact they were most likely trolling, but I see a ton of people have a similar attitude even when someone is doing something legit. It looks like you were up a decent amount of gold at the end, even for being down 18 kills, though.I know its a viable strat but in this case it was not their intention to feed and they didn't play it at all like you describe.
I was maining Akali (over 100+ ranked games) and even though she can get fed and carry, it gets harder and harder the later the game goes, which means there would be games I was stomping and have 15+ kills but still lost due to my team sucking. To remedy this, I decided to play champs that could practically win the game on their own. This includes for top lane: Tryndamere & Aatrox, split pushing animals that can never truly be shut down, even if your lane gets camped to death and you die 10x, once you get 1-2 major items built you are good to go and always have the ability to split push for the win. (I tend to help with team fights still, as opposed to the shitty Tryndameres that only split push and never team fight).Really been looking into playing a different mid / top that can carry games a tad easier in silver.
AatroxReally been looking into playing a different mid / top that can carry games a tad easier in silver. FINALLY broke free from silver 5 and I know I CAN play things like yi (til the change at least) and akali but akali gets shut down hard if I have people camp my lane from akali fear.
I'm looking at Kassadin, renek but aside from them I don't really have much. People have been saying zed but I don't see his team fight potential aisde from singling out the adc / apc pre-fight.
Any champ suggestions would be nice.
I mean yea... Zed and even Kha Zix could split push but Trynd/Aatrox are +atk speed champs with high damage, you can decimate turrets/inhibs so fast, even with the enemy team nearby. Zed needs to be isolated, just like most champions. He can't burst them down as fast.Zed can split push like a monster so I will have to disagree on the all assassins can't destroy structures. I second Aatrox, he can be a monster and most low elo games won't counter him.
Nah, BorK is like 4th item and not necessary.Blade of the Ruined King.
Top & Jungle have the most common champion pool. Basically anyone you play Top could also jungle. You won't see many APs, Supports or ADCs going into the Jungle. This is one reason why specializing in top/jungle is a good choice, you can use the same champion(s) for both. Nocturne excels as a jungler and is never really seen as a top laner - even though he could. Reason being is that his Ult is fairly worthless at top lane, it is a great ganking tool, he also has an AoE passive attack that basically pushes the lane automatically, which can be very bad in a lot of cases. You usually want to "freeze" the lane or keep it toward your side of the lane, Nocturne will end up pushing to the other side naturally which opens him up for ganks. So the fact his ult is pretty much useless in top & because he pushes the lane too hard makes him more of a niche pick top, you rarely ever see it.Anyone ever top lane with Nocturne? I was watching a few Wingsofdeath streams and he was using him top and doing really well with him. Obviously the guy is good and could probably make any champ work well but Noc was on sale so I tried it out last night.
Of course my game last night was against a duo top lane with Aatrox and Chogath. So yay 2v1, but I think I held my own. Noc is pretty fun and I fucked up his ult so many times.
Anyway, I'm kind of curious how a top lane item build would differ from a Jungle build.
I'm completely aware of the first part of your response, and was looking primarily for how you would start top lane. For example, I've seen wingsofdeathx start with dorans blade, push lane, and B for pots and wards. I've seen people start pots and wards, then first B go Brut and boots then sunfire then cleaver. I've seen a few other things as well.Top & Jungle have the most common champion pool. Basically anyone you play Top could also jungle. You won't see many APs, Supports or ADCs going into the Jungle. With item builds it depends on the champion really, the main difference is that Junglers will start with Machete which means they will upgrade that to a Ancient Golem or Lizard Elder item, whereas top laners forego that item path entirely. Other than that, it depends on the champion and whether you are going to build offensively or defensively. Top-Lane Nocturne would probably go for a BotRK than maybe Black Cleaver followed up with some defensive items.
A great site to get item advice iswww.probuilds.net
Here is the Nocturne page, however they are all for a Jungle Nocturne specializing in a defensive build. Which would be normal for jungling.http://www.probuilds.net/champions/Nocturne
(Actually the player Kev1n seemed to play a top-lane Nocturne and went BotRK, Lizard Elder, Sunfire, Mercs, and was either building Black Cleaver or some defensive item next).
Note: The Lizard Elder item is seeing a lot more play by non-junglers these days. It's a standard item for Ezreal now, as example.
Hmm, well, if you're talking runes/masteries, that probuild.net website shows the runes/masteries and the item buying order too if you click on the pro's name. There are so many options really. I would say a very standard rune page is: AD Marks, Armor Seals, MR Blues, AD Quints, this is a generic rune set and works for practically any AD champion. What I'm getting at, what is the appropriate level of mana regen, armor and AD and AS (if any) for Noc to be a successful bruiser and counter gank from top. I can completely see Noc pushing lane and using TP/Ult to support the team across the map. At least in the MMR normals I'm playing in normally.
