Naut is so much fun in jungle. He really is the king of ganks in a lot of ways, because my god can people just not escape from you. He also gets really fat very quickly because you're usually leveling his W so you get to pull some pretty bullshit early tower dives.

When I failed my fourth best of five for platinum in a game five where four of my teammates went afk due to Soraka feeding intentionally while mocking me for being in a series I gave up on ranked. I just absolutely fucking refuse to devote the amount of time necessary to try and advance through the solo queue rankings.

Seriously, fuck this game.

ZERO LP for my last win at 99LP. This game does not want me to qualify for Gold.
You're playing against mid-gold opponents now and the game is just triple-checking to make sure you belong there. If it didn't do this, there would be way more sullen bitter feed specialists in the V tier of every division who got promoted ahead of their time.

Yeah, I understand. It's just such a grind. I did just get into my series with this last game. I made some bone head mistakes, like continually forgetting to get my W until level 9. But the other team just made bad play after bad play. Even picked up a quadra at some point.

Hopefully Aatrox can carry me into Gold. Currently 8-1 with him.

Also, you may skip gold V entirely given that your MMR seems to be mid gold. Ive heard of that happening for other guys who get unlucky in their division series. When they finally break through they go to IV or III.

I don't get to play enough to do ranked these days, and only a few normals even, but I feel like aatrox is a great pub stomper when jungling. He just seems kinda boring to me. I would imagine he falls off late game, especially if he's not super fed, but his early game is pretty strong jungling. He stays very high health due to his W, his Q/E are good ganking tools and his passive lets him tower dive or just 'fuck up' and come out with a kill.

He just seems easy to play, his E is the 'hardest' thing to land and it's not that hard.

Hmm how can you tell your actual MMR?

He falls off late if you build him like a bruiser. If you build him like Tryndamere, he's pretty much just Tryndamere late game, although Trynd's ult > Aatrox's passive by quite a wide margin.

Although I haven't lost a series I've been skipping divisions. I only have about 50 ranked games under my belt for season 3, started off in Silver 1, won series 3-2, promoted to Gold 5, won series 2-1, skipped to Gold 3, won series 2-1 and skipped to Gold 1 just this wknd. Wondering if it'll tether me at Gold 1 for a bit though, it appears I'm mainly playing low to mid plat players so I'd assume it wouldn't, but who knows.

What I'm wondering, if anybody has any clue, is if MMR is solely based on your win/loss ratio or if it also takes into account say your scores / cs / time of win / etc etc etc.

Win/loss factoring MMR of your teammates and opponents. ELO systems aren't really about win/loss ratio, but in practice it might as well be given the size of the matchmaking pool.

Silver 5 to silver 3...

Call mid lane, catch shit as 2nd pick mid kass vs a kennen. "Support" nunu says, "Shouldn't you be more worried about losing your lane to a kennen?" after I remark on his comments about an "OP" Lulu support.

go 3/0 against kennen within the 1st 10m. Have to go back once due to a gank from jungle after a kill...kennen goes bot after they tower dive lulu vayne and gets a double kill.

"kassadin losing his lane, shit player go die" - Nunu

trynd gets 2 kills top lane, nunu decides that towerdiving 1v3 would be the best way to be productive, does so 4 times.

-----

TL;DR...

Win lane, gank top and bot getting shutdowns on both trynd and vayne...still lose due to a "child" being mad he lost mid pick.

EDIT:

Gotta add, sorry for making this my "Holy shit solo queue" stress relief outlet...this shit is maddening sometimes.

I quit playing ranked shortly after S3 started. It just wasn't fun for me. Now I play normals with friends and never get mad. I'll duo ranked if someone wants a partner but given that most of my friends are low silver/bronze and belong there they don't like to play ranked with me and have me witness them mercilessly feeding a mid-silver team.

If you duo ranked with someone who is leagues above you will it result in faster advancement? I wrecked my elo before I stopped playing back in the day due to teaching my brother the game and playing with him (many many many many losses, before ranked even started). Came back to the game in S3 and did some ranked with him, we ended up in bronze tho and now i'm stuck there. Sitting bronze 2 at the moment but it's almost impossible to climb out. I always seem to end up at 90+ LP or in my promo series, and then get shit on by the queue and lose 15 games in a row due to absolute retards/trolls/afks/feeders/immature shitheads (i'm sure these guys all exist in the higher leagues too but I like to hope they're nowhere near as common) and drop back to bronze 4 70LP. Grind back up, rinse and repeat. It's literally impossible to carry most of these teams.

Having a consistent duo partner would help, it does NOT make you advance faster on a per-win basis. You will only advance faster due to winning more often. It would be wise to duo with players of similar leagues for a couple reasons:

* If you duo with someone several leagues higher or lower, you will have a very very random team and opponents, the system will try to compensate for their being a highly ranked player on your team and might throw some high ranked players on the enemy team. You can have situations where as example: You are Bronze, Your Duo is Plat, Your 3 other teammates are Silver, the Enemy team is mostly gold. It just throws things way out wack. Ideally you want to duo with someone of similar level as yourself and just be consistent and play well, you should win more then you lose since 2 of you should be winning lanes etc (assuming your both good).

*Duoing with someone not near your MMR also means 1 of you will ALWAYS be the captain and the other will always be last pick. This can make champ select nightmarish since most players at lower MMR do not honor duos (myself included). You should expect to roll as a support if nobody else plans to, unless you plan to be a dick which means you would likely lose the game anyway. I also hate being the 1st pick every time because then picking a solo lane becomes risky. I would love to find a duo partner within ~10-20 MMR of myself so that we would end up in the middle of the picking order, but its damn near impossible. Always expect to be 1st & last pick when duoing.

When you duo queue together and you are both at similar MMR you will almost assuredly be last pick and second to last pick by virtue of the 50 MMR boost your "team" received compared to your actual MMR. The captain and last pick is actually preferable IMO.

When i'm playing with my brother (99% of my ranked games) it goes like that. I'm the captain in almost every match and he's always near the bottom. You guys should play some bronze 4 games and stuff tho before you say it's easy to win by winning your lane, or even winning top + mid both. Can't do much if you go 14/2 mid and your bot lane is 0/17 combined and 100cks behind.

I've only ever seen 4th & 5th picks be duo very seldom, most commonly it is captain + last pick are duo. This could vary based on your MMR too, I know in Silver, 99% of the games have a duo on BOTH teams. Now that I've raised my MMR ~300 points and am nearing Gold II, I have seen many more games where a team won't have a duo at all, and even games where both teams won't have duos. I still see duos as captain+last pick most often though.

(Edit: Oh, I am dumb, yes I see what you're saying. Having similar MMR means you'll be 4th & 5th picks. I would prefer this more often, if you want to win, since you can fill the weakest spots. Unless you just like to go yolo top/mid and try to carry while putting players in their weaker positions. To each their own

Re:MMR

I suspect that your KDA ratio might affect who you're matched up with. I was playing Singed this weekend and was proxy farming and trying for some wacky shit and having fun in normals. Grouped with some higher ranked people and it looks like a pulled a lot of them down even lower. Lulz.

Might of been just perception though. Only happened like a few games.
