Lots of stuff...

Patch Notes 1.6

  • HEIMERDINGER

3-mana spells now create MK3: APEX TURRET: 3|1 Fearsome (previously the 4-mana turret keyword)
4-mana spells now create MK4: STORMLOBBER: 4|1 Overwhelm (previously the 6-mana turret keyword)
6-mana spells now create MK6: FLOOR-B-GONE: 6|1 Elusive (previously the 3-mana turret keyword)
  • Braun: Reduce his power by 1 in both form.
  • Relentless Pursuit: Goes from Fast to Slow
  • Crimson Disciple and Legion Grenadier: Now only do 1 damage to Nexus instead of 2
  • Basilisk Rider: Power goes from 5 to 4
  • Flash of Brilliance: Goes from 3 to 4 mana cost
  • Sump Dredger and Zaunite Urchin: Both have their text changed to "To play me Discard 1 and Draw 1"
  • Shadow Assassin: Power goes from 2 to 1
  • Will of Ionia: Cost goes from 4 to 5
A few other changes a big balance patch, some very impactful cards nerfed, and cards that were auto-include in many decks. I expect a big meta shift. Heimer changes are a big nerf, remains to be seen how viable he will be. Braun was OP with the last changes, this probably brings him in a better spot. Crimson Disciple was expected, I didn't expect Legion Grenadier, it's going to impact Noxus aggro a lot. I really like Riot be willing to make big changes like this to shake up the meta and ultimately keep the game healthier.

Next is the Spirit Blosson Festival, this looks pretty cool, lots of reward for completing quest for the season. One more reason to play a few games everyday.

Lastly a new Progress Day from Mogwai and the cast and special guest Steve Rubin the Live Design Lead to talk about the balance changes.(haven't watched it yet.)

Cool stuff if you like LoR. :)

Clicky board is a must have.
I'm liking the Spirit Blossom theme across all the games.
Battle Pass makes an appearance, looks like they are giving out a LOT of guardians in it, which surprised me. Definitely grabbing that.
30 health nexus in Lab, looks fun.

Card changes look good & scary at the same time.
LOVE all the nerfs for the most part.
I do dislike Braum getting power reduced to 0 again.
Eggnivia change is nice
3 cards now "discard 1 to draw 1". Definitely going to see a deck somewhere with crazy draw power. TF likely included in this, but need to go with Noxus OR P&Z if you want TF. Or you have Noxus / P&Z Jinx/Draven discard deck with a crazy amount of gas now.

Steel tempest is scary at 2 mana, but since it can only be used against Attacking enemies, still has a pretty big drawback.
Yasuo in the meta is something I don't really want to see.

Rivershaper seems crazy now.

Hunting Fleet seems playable. Golden Narwhal is a joke now. Can easily put Hunting Fleet in a fast deck / flood deck and just challenge the Narwhal with a 1/1 or something to get through your 6/6. Might see some combos with Overwhelm buffs and shit too.

Might see something spark from this bug fix:
Teemo (both levels) and Swain (Level 2) will now trigger their Nexus Strike ability when damaging the nexus through effects like Dragon’s Rage.

Ezreal no longer getting guaranteed level-ups from Make it rain is nice:
Fixed an issue where Ezreal would sometimes gain level-up progress when a target was removed before a spell resolved.

I got the new board and battle pass. :)

I think I'm going to love these seasonal events. I hope I can complete it with the little I can play these days.

I think the game is going in a great direction, daily quests, seasonal event, labs, gauntlet, expedition, casual, ranked etc...Lots of ways to play and get rewards.

With new card sets every 2 months, and their fairly substantial balance patch every month keeping the game fresh, and probably the CCG with the most amount of viable decks. It doesn't get much better than this honestly. Also on personal note, they seem to favor mid-range/control over aggro which suits me fine since I find aggro to be the least fun type of deck and matches, my preference being mid-range decks.

I am enjoying the Season Pass event. Is fun creating competitive decks around the missions. It is nice finally having a reason to play beyond just playing. The weekly is fine but once I got to a point every week, it really did not matter much. Now I have goals again. Looking forward to future events. The Pass is well worth the value.

Yea I've been playing LoR and LoL more now. I'm actually playing a little of all Riot games right now. Usually LoR on mobile randomly throughout day. 1-2 VALORANT games when i can sit at the PC. And cool down after with a LoL / Nexus Blitz / TFT

Yeah when you combine the daily quest and the events quests, it's a lot of reasons to play a few games everyday and make decks to actually complete these rather than stuck to the few decks we usually get comfortable playing. There's enough variety in the quests that you have to play quite a few different decks which is fun.

I really hope we start getting reveals tomorrow.
Im kinda surprised we didn't get any yesterday or today.
VALORANT posted their new agent today, I suppose they have a plan to leak things for each game on different days.

I’m loving the event, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to complete it. I’m at 111 petals only with 15 day’s to go, but only have 2 event quests left.

I was surprised at not getting a new event once per week. I am at 211 and I usually win 3 games per day. That is an ample amount to finish off the event. You have to play to get the pedals. You get one for every game you win.

I am ready for the next set. I feel I have played this enough with the cards that exist.

I play almost everyday, I may have skipped 2-3 days since event started. I only play about 3-4 games max when I do, so it's going to be pretty hard to complete it.

If I win 2 of the games everyday for the next 15 days, I get 5 petals a day, 4 for first win, 1 for second win, so 75 petals plus 2 event quests at 7 petals each for 14 more petals. So looking at 89 or so for the rest of the events which would bring to 200, way short of what's needed. At a 50% win rate I would need to play another 100 games on top of what I already play to get to 250. Probably not going to happen. :(

Still I am enjoying it a lot, got me to play a bit more regularly and try different decks so I'm happy even if I can't finish, that's the price to pay for being a casual. :)

I think a couple more quests are coming, per something I saw on Reddit.
I think I'm at 190 or so. I feel like I should be able to get there in the 2 weeks or so remaining. I'll evaluate when there's a week left :D

Gauntlet & Lab update
No Balance changes (except for expeditions)
Can customize your deck art in deckbuilder now
More customization stuff available for purchase.

2 more Spirit Blossom quests

And most importantly: Riot is taking 1 week off, which means everything is getting pushed a week, next update is 3 weeks away and then update after that is also 3 weeks out.

  • Patch 1.7 will go live normally tomorrow, but will last an extra week (so three weeks in total rather than the usual two) before we update again.
  • Patch 1.8 will go live August 26 (rather than August 19), and will also last for three weeks. 1.8 will contain a couple minor card changes but won't be a full-fledged balance patch, though it may feature a few other things...
  • Patch 1.10 (yes, we’re skipping 1.9) will land on September 16, and will contain our next significant round of balance updates. This patch will last the usual two weeks and resume our normal update cadence.

I have a very hard time believing they will release the expansion on 1.8.
Which means September...

But of course Reddit thinks Targon is coming in 1.8. If there are no card spoilers by Thursday then I'm saying it's going to be the 1.10 patch.
Making us wait 6 more weeks would be a real kick in the nuts, and also bad timing considering school "should" be back in session. I want to believe they keep their August promise.
Maybe they will and intend to give the meta 3 weeks to settle in before making sweeping balance changes? Lets hope.

At this rate, I will be set for 2 expansions with what I have built up to this point.

They need to get real tournaments going. The ladder is not worth the effort in its current incarnation and I get a little concerned that players will just move on without a real incentive to play beyond trying out a few deck ideas. The core of the game is solid. Its time to take it up a notch.

Tournaments would be nice, an esport scene also would be nice.

I'm at about 300 LP in masters and am in the top 200.
Top 100 is over 800 LP.

Not much motivation to grind or anything, I'm happy where I am. I've been getting my win a day for the event and doing some labs

Nice, now stop posting unless it's card reveals. I get excited when I see a new post in this thread since I keep expecting them to reveal new stuff. :)

Lol, I've given up hope on card reveals.
The new Lab is pretty fun.
I need to try the 3 region gauntlet still
