wow, game sold 7m copies even though its on gamepass. well deserved, I 100%'d the xbox/gamepass version and it was a fantastic game

hopefully this means the sequel is a lock.

Read that again, it says 7 million players, not sales. They're definitely counting gamepass in there.

A prequel, interesting. Base game was great, played through countless times with different weapons/builds. Very polished for a non-Fromm soulslike. Time travel incoming? Only way I could see carrying over a character into DLC, unless you start it fresh. Well not the only way, BB had different dreams you would enter etc.

I started this on GamePass last week and an hour or so each night has been fun. Although, I’m now at the part where you fight the whole gang at once and am beating my head against it over and over. Haven’t had a single issue with another fight the entire game.

Up to Laxasia the Complete now. Just gave it a couple of tries tonight. First form is fine. Second form she just lightning dashes and flies around the screen and was irritating. Been a long day and don't have the patience for it tonight.

Might do another run of this before the expac. I'm wondering if it will start along the path of the campaign like Fromsoft or if its just another campaign you select before you start a game. I would guess the ladder since LoP is a pretty linear game.

This game left Game Pass on March 15, so I guess you have to pony up for both the base game and the DLC now. Let's hope they have a steeper sale on the base game before the DLC is released. Time to migrate those saves to Steam...

Damn. I went out of town and didn’t have a chance to finish my Plat. Needed one more ending I think. The DLC seems interesting, the little Dorothy Easter egg at the end was cool too. With a steep sale I’d probably buy.

I had all the endings, but the achievement glitched, and I never got the achievement needed to platinum the game. I didn't feel like completing a fourth run back then. It's going to be interesting to see how hard the DLC is on NG+3.

Can anyone refresh my memory (haven't played this since launch), what mechanic did this game have that made things easier? Was it summoning other players, or summoning minions ala Elden Ring, or something else?

I remember there being some advantage-parting game mechanic that I used to ease the struggle of getting through this game, only to have it be disabled for the final boss (turning that into the game's hardest fight by far). Can't remember for the life of me what that mechanic was.

I might resume this and gain more levels / trophies / whatever to get prepared for the DLC, whenever that's out, since I'm tapped out on things to do in Bloodborne and need something Victorian. I really hope I didn't continue on to NG+ and still have an endgame save.

It had summons similar to spirit ashes where it didn't up the bosses hp. Think a lot of bosses got nerfed at some point, but was long after I was finished with it.

Final boss could be semi-cheesed with the auto parry weapon grinder, but was a motherfucker without it

Yeah, the auto parry weapon grinder was the only reason I could beat the final boss' second form. Before that I spammed all the consumables I'd been saving up for the whole game (made a backup cloud save beforehand so I wouldn't lose all of them forever).

Rest of the game was no problem, so I'm not surprised there's a spirit ashes type mechanic.

It was mostly fine on Series X as long as you don't try to mess with the settings. By default performance mode is on and the game is locked to 60 fps, and according to the DF analysis it hits that target almost 100% of the time. The other modes suck, including the balanced mode 40-fps-in-a-120Hz-container option. Frame pacing and input lag problems all over, and the VRR flickering is the worst I've ever seen on my LG OLED. The last thing you want in a game that's entirely about parrying is any input lag whatsoever.

PC had no problems at all either. Ran great with everything maxed out on a 7800XT/5600X3D system. Even ultrawide worked without needing to mod which is rare for Unreal Engine games. I played it mostly on Series X anyway, it was just a better experience on a TV.

I only played the Game Pass versions, but according to Digital Foundry PS5 ran essentially the same as Series X. They released a PS5 Pro patch a while back too, which apparently lets the game run at full 4K60 in performance mode (with heavy use of PSSR of course).
