It all just reeks of boomers who suck at video games now and are literally now the dude standing in the whelps back on Onyxia in 2004.
Rather than admit they're past their prime and suck now, it must just be the game's fault and "lol p2w garbage! Clearly people good at it are just swiping their CC and not Chad gamers like me! Anyways, back I go to hardcore Andy games like Animal Crossing and Cities: Skylines! Fucking games these days are shit!"
Then they'll post a bunch of retard, low effort, false anecdotes they read on Reddit, a YouTube comment, or "heard from a friend". All while not even actually playing the game to know for themselves.

Lost Ark just doesn't strike me as the type of game where you poopsock to max level. The same people in this thread falling over themselves to obfuscate what's available on the cash shop have crticized people that are having fun in other games all year. I didn't see you question that. Lost Ark is serious business apparently. Everything changes in this thread it's like a cult.

Poopsocking isn't ~10hours of playing a game, what kind of casual shit is that. You were wrong in what you stated, were told you're wrong, but refuse to think you're wrong and that must be everyone else who's wrong and lying instead.
There's plenty of "P2W" shit in the shop, there's an accurate list a couple pages back. Level 50 in the shop is not one of them. The screenshot box is just a currency box that has better ratio than the normal currency but is limited to once per account and require lvl 50 to get all of it. They have a couple more boxes like that, one for finishing the last current story quest(story goes past 50) and one for reaching the highest tier of gear for current content. They're still just currency boxes.

Aye. I also thought New World was gonna be a dog shit game after I had a chance to play it (open beta just before launch).
My read on Lost Ark from my current lv.20 artillerist is "has potential"

That first Nuclear Bomb you lay down though? Chefs Kiss. Artillerist is tons of fun. Its just SLOW AS FUCKKKK. Playing a Sorcerer and this bitch is zooming around at light speed compared to my gunny boi's chunky ass. I want a skin that makes my Artillerist fat as hell so I feel like it makes sense.

I kinda stopped focused on the MSQ/Side quests today and spent a bunch of time figuring out my stronghold, life skills, and more RL sleeping. Also watching the Wokerbowl but listening to the Greatest hits of the 90's Halftime show from the other room now.
At some point I plan on writing a post about my observations about how it looks from the other side of JP/KR looking at their view of our fantasy milieu and incorporating that into their games such as FFXIV and this, very much like Neon Genesis Evangelion's use of Christian mythos. Not bad or good but what sounds foreign or unfamiliar to folks in the Asian Pacific region? Things that are commonplace to us. Very much like ninja and samurai are to them, we get a chance to see our familiar symbols seen through others' eyes. It's neat.
Edit: Game is still fun, although narratively...cumbersome at times so far. Still super fun playing the Gunlancer, can't wait to try out some classes, including Bard/Paladin/Sorcerer/and level my Artillerist.

So I'm taking the route of doing every quest. I just like clearing out shit, but I hear this is going to have me hit 50 way before the "main" quest line is finished. Does the quest experience just change into silver or some other currency? Or do I finish off the main quest and literally get nothing?

I haven't played an MMO since the secret world. I don't play video games very often any longer. I was playing Pathfinder wrath of the righteous and I haven't touched it in a couple of months.
However, I've logged in every day to play this game some. It's just fun and refreshing. Runs ridiculously smooth on my machine, and there's so many things to do or explore, and the dungeons specifically the first one I went into, just blew me away.
I think it's pretty fucking fantastic. Is it perfect absolutely not but it's by and large the best MMO that's come out in a long long while.
