So I keep mentioning staying in front of the pack to avoid the terrible players, but the flip side of this is that there are a lot of us that can help carry people through some of the content so you don't have to play with them.

The little serverwide chat thing is a boon. Keep an eye on it for people doing stuff, or just ask for help. The only crappy one is abyss dungeons since you can run them once a week. But I'm getting close to having one of my alts in t2, so I'd be able to run them twice soon (although someone mentioned something last night about being in t3 you don't get to rerun as many t2? dunno).

mmo design these days is like a fucking job. timers, dailies, weeklies. Everything is just this insane maximize efficiency. Every time you log in, you have this checklist of things you should be doing. instead of just.. idk. playing the fucking game.
oh, do your daily emotes/rapport, oh do your daily guild task, oh daily abyss, daily island, daily stronghold, whatever the fuck.

legacy gamings newest vid just reinforces this.

It's only work if you are trying to keep up with the bleeding edge. Once you give that up and just do what you want, then it becomes a game again.

My server first raiding days are long behind me. Now it's filthy casual all the way (just hit 50 last night).

Yeah the great thing about this game is all the shit you can do. But if you think of it as shit you MUST do daily then it becomes not fun.

The other nice thing about Lost Ark is the "rested" bonus they give you if you miss some guardians, dailies, etc. As somebody who HATES the concept of dailies because it causes severe FOMO in people, especially completionists, it really isn't something I even worry about in Lost Ark. Some days I do them, some days I don't.

For instance, I didn't do my guardians for 3 days (was focusing on pumping item level before weekly reset) and now I'll get to double harvest guardian souls the next few runs.

I just got to 50, but just started the Magitek land MSQ. Do I have to beat that before I get the blue t1 starter gear?

can skip straight to vern and do chaos dungeons/guardians but think you need to complete the arc to unlock abyssal raids.

Nope. You have to beat Vern to get access to Chaos dungeons, which will drop your 302 blue gear.

Got the red fox down finally. Like 3 min left on timer in a 4 man grp. I did like 52% of the dmg and I suck at the game...

Some people are just absolutely awful at games. I'm really glad a lot of the content in Lost Ark is difficult, because it'll weed out a lot of baddies after enough bullying.

Hillbrandt Palace was a nightmare. Had a dude in 1 group who just couldn't understand the fucking concept of a wave going across the room, click on the colored mirrors to take you to the MATCHING COLORED MIRROR ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE BEFORE WAVE OF PURPLE JIZZ KILLS YOU! Apparently, that was too hard. I just voted to quit, because there was ZERO fuckin' shot we were doing the final boss with her 284 mechanics.

Yeah as mentionned, only Vern is necessary for progress until Rohendel(when you have 460 gear). My Shadowhunter hasn't completed Tortoyk, Anikka or Shushire but is 580. Vern is really short to complete too, it's like a third of a continent, and you can start endgame activities right after you start(but not everything, so you do want to clear it at some point).

Na that's Shushire and that takes a while to do. You can get 302 gear right away once you get to Vern by running your chaos dungeons, or by using the AH and buying a full set although that's a waste of money. If you have time before reset it's technically better to go Shushire, get the free set, upgrade it to 340 then run chaos dungeons so you get more mats out of it, but that's a ~2-3hours process, more if reading quests and watching cutscenes, so not for everyone

It's hardly a waste. It's like 20 gold for a full set of tier 1 gear. Plus not having to do Shushire, or waste your 2 daily chaos runs on the low level instances.

Don't you also need to use pheon coins to buy these or are they exempt? I assumed it was also 6 coins(1 for each item), which are like 40g each at current exchange rates. You do get some for "free" but that still feels like a waste to use them to save one day of bit better materials, which with T1 prices is actually not all that much money atm. Unless you've already done a ton of islands somehow and are going to upgrade a large amount, you'll likely just do 340 instead of 302, and the difference in mats is negligible in the long term for a single run.

I didn't realize you could skip to Vern, so just plowed through into Shushire and finished all that to get my 302 set. All the extra materials from the sidequests and stuff didn't hurt either as I boosted that 302 set straight to 380 before running the first ones.

Yes, it's 6 pheons, and you get some free. AND SINCE FUCKING AMAZON DECIDED TO MAKE TIER 3 CHAOS GEAR FUCKING UNDETRADEABLE YOU DON'T HAVE TO FUCKING WORRY ABOUT SAVING ANY FOR BUYING ANY OF THAT FUCKING GEAR, FOR FUCKS SAKE.

Sorry, don't know what came over me. Anyway, yes, if you want to penny pinch every fucking gold, then don't do it. The login rewards have 200 total pheons for the month. Which is more than even RU gives out. And they'll most likely give more next month, and there will be events where you get more. In RU I've rarely ever bought pheons, and that's with 9 characters on my main account and buying costumes off the AH (which costs pheons unless they are in a chest).
