I'd never touch this, it has failure written all over it.

But I have to say, the world building and settings WotC creates are usually very good. The books, writing for individual characters and so on, all that settles at various layers of shit. The worlds, style guides, and the setting itself would be a gold mine for a really good game, be it MMO or some other genre.

This doesn't bother me. As long as the gameplay is there.

I'm too old to grind a Korean grinder. A good Diablo style RNG done right in the Neverwinter combat aesthetic with casual potential isn't a deal breaker for me.

I 100% thought it was a Warhammer vid at first. Especially when it got to the goblins.

in hindsight I recognize Ral, but even now, thats about it.

My interest was already low given the level of 'woke' mental-illness at WoTC, but that trailer relieved me of any disgust I would have felt buying the game.

Hard pass.

I feel there is room for a good ARPG though... Personally I've never been able to deeply connect with Path of Exile and would very much enjoy some semi-mindless Diablo-type slaughter.

I find myself again mourning Marvel Heroes which was always fun to come back to right after a big MCU movie hit.

Oh yeah, it may very well end up being a good Diablo-clone--the whole skill-deck thing looks like an interesting twist on the formula--and if it is, I'll probably have a go at it, but they were bullshitting pretty fucking hard when they announced this as an MMO.

Speaking of which, this thread probably should be moved to PC and Console, now that they've showed what the game actually is.

I saw zero MTG IP in that trailer and it had the mobile game UI which means it's a copy paste like Diablo: Immortal.

It's embarrassing.

I also think that fast paced combat mowing down hordes of enemies like in Diablo is very unlike MTG. You should be able to beat an enemy with counter spells, which would lend itself more to 1v1 combat though an enemy could specialise in summoning hordes of goblins which could be mown down.

This is actually what I was hoping it would be. Something like Marvel Heroes but with planeswalkers.

I think it's absolutely possible to pull this off well but I doubt Perfect World/Cryptic can do it.

Perfect World/Cryptic do have a habit of asymptotically approaching greatness and then veering off at the last minute to land squarely in mediocrity.

Yep they even said it was more like Destiny. Open world can have a max of something like 3 people in an area... This is not an MMO lol.

Probably room for one or two more. But competition for this is coming soon with Lost Ark, Torchlite mmos. And those probably have a better chance of succeeding.

Think i might give it a try as i just find rl to depressing atm. I need to find a list of the changes from actual 1989. Guessing we wont have quadding necro pets hitting for insane dmg and all the mana inneficent spells. But i have not touched eq since umm the miragul. steamwork xpac in like 08 i think. maybe it was 09. So im sure ill be way behind.
