Lois showing up out of the blue was the only jarring moment of the movie for me. But, had Snyder set up her arrival properly, it would have added length and detracted from the film as a whole.
Like that stupid SE scene of Vader landing on the Star Destroyer in Empire's Strike Back because people were actually confused how he got from Bespin to his ship.

Here's a little more from Fedor's post.

"Zack Snyder has just shook Hall H of the San Diego Comic-Con by making a surprise appearance during the Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures panel to reveal that a Man of Steel sequel has been set for 2015 and will see Henry Cavill'sSuperman sharing the screen with The Dark Knight in a World's Finest movie.

On the heels of the worldwide success of Man of Steel, director Zack Snyder is bringing together the two greatest Super Heroes of all time -Batman and Superman -for the first time on the big screen. Along with its star, Henry Cavill, the upcoming film brings back Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. The new Batman has yet to be cast.

Snyder brought out Man of Steel actor Harry Lennix (General Swanwick) to use his cool voice to read the following piece of dialogue:

I want you to remember, Clark.in all the years to come.in your most private moments.I want you to remember.my hand.at your throat.I want.you to remember.the one man who beat you.

Yup. Batman's speech from The Dark Knight Returns. Snyder said the movie won't be an adaptation of this film... but it will be inspired by it. The crowd lost their shit...

Snyder is co-writing the story with David S. Goyer, who will then pen the screenplay. Production is expected to begin in 2014, with an anticipated release date in Summer 2015. Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are serving as executive producers, along with Benjamin Melniker and Michael E. Uslan."

This is either going to be fucking jizz-in-pants awesome or it will be a travesty of nerd-suicide proportions. No in-between. I dunno why, but DC's superhero cross-overs always felt way more jarring than Marvel's. I can totally accept Iron Man vs. Ultron in the next movie...Superman and Batman is harder to swallow for me and I have no fucking clue why.

Better put lyrical on suicide watch.

Will be very interesting to see what they do.

Guess I need to read up on this dark night returns that is inspiring the movie. Almost sounds like they are going to pit superman vs batman and that could lead to all kinds of awesome.

Spitting on Superman wasn't enough, you guys actually are excited to see Synder masturbate to Batman, and force Superman to suck him off?

Isn't The Avengers 2 supposed to come out in 2015 as well? That's going to be a good summer for super hero movies.

I dunno, I really liked Man of Steel. Superman Returns left me feeling short-changed when all I wanted to see was Superman being Superman. I got more of that than I could have asked for in Man of Steel and I loved every moment of it. Sure, there was no character development and thousands of civilians presumably die, but what I wanted was the visceral, primal rush of watching a ridiculously over-powered super-being use his incredibly potent powers in intensely satisfying ways, and that's exactly what I got. Could it have been more than what it was? Sure. I mean, it was no Shao Lin Soccer (which did the whole "over-the-top powers" thing while including character development and a structured plot), but for a mindless testosterone rush it was pretty satisfying.

I gotta admit that it bugged me that Superman was apparently sent to Earth to be their savior but there wouldn't have been anything to save Earth from if he hadn't gone there in the first place.

Here is a General superman question. I understand there could be many answers based on Pre-crisis, Post-Crisis, whatever the new shit they have going on now is, Superman 1-5 movies, MOS and maybe even Superman TAS (is TAS worth watching? i love the GL ones)

IF superman is powered by the yellow sun (as is my understanding) how does he survive in deep space away from his yellow sun powerbase? It always kinda of bugged me when he would go fight Darkside in Apocalypse, i thought he needed our solar system for power. IIRC originally he could only fly due to earths weak gravity, seems like that would be out window in space. Even in superman returns (bleh) he just got back from a trip into deep space to find Krypton, isnt that a pretty heavy risk to be flying out in space with the potential of no yellow suns?

solar battery.
he absorbs the energy. using his powers uses it up. how much so, varies per story.
Since his toughness is a cellular telekinetic shield, getting punched even wears down the stored energy. But otherwise that stored power lasts a long time.
