the most jarring thing for me was, after a giant trampoline machine flattens part of metropolis and severely damages the other parts, soups tells his mom. hey mom its time i got a job. so like 2 days later you see business as usual over at the Daily Planet. people hustling and bustling in there. for one. the Daily Planet should be grey dust at this point. why because they had to evacuate the building and outrun all the 9/11s coming their way (interestingly fat morpheus can outrun a frightened skinny woman). and if by some luck the daily planet didnt get pile drived, then its going to be fucking interesting commuting there when all infrastructure including water, heating, electricity and communications have been cut off to it.

though i guess it makes sense that clark kent can easily become a reporter there now that a lot of the DP employees are dead or quit because they wont hike the 5 miles through rubble and a million or so dead humans just to work a shitty reporter job. and this place still has interns! great movie but its not superman and dont stop to think about any part more than 3 seconds.

Because his mental gymnastics only work if it's 2 days. Therefore it must be 2 days.

2 days or 2 years later there will be no change. in fact what happened to that section of metropolis would be considered a complete loss. they just finished building the freedom tower and 9/11 happened 11.5 years ago. the amount of destruction that took place at the end of MoS was like a dozen 9/11s. how long do you think it took to restore the streets/plumbing/electrics/communications and renovated/rebuilt the Daily Planet? and lets not forget there are millions dead still rotting openly in rubble that was once a large part of the metropolis skyline.

Superman can just fly really really fast around the planet to reverse it's rotation to set everything back to normal just like the original Superman movies.

hey maybe. that certainly explains the casual way everyone is going about their day. i would also accept that they moved the daily planet offices to another part of town.

Clearly, the script was not written with such trivia as logic, sense, or continuity in mind. But itwasa very pretty movie.

i know i'll burn in hell for this, but he's 100% right

an event like that would have long and cultural shaking consequences for decades. But they all act like nothing

does it ruin the movie? of course not. But it's legit to joke about it

true dat, it was also great action. great fights. i want to do nasty things to zod's evil chick sidekick. it just got really way the fuck out of hand with their collateral damage. seriously they completely destroyed smallville and partialy destroyed metropolis and they made superman not seem to give a fuck. sure he went out of his way to save lois, his childhood friend and a few others. but the millions who died as a result of that terraforming machine? he was pretty meh about it. if i was one of the survivors, i would be all for sending this superman motherfucker away from earth before he decides hes tired of us peons and destroys the planet. and thats not what superman is about. superman saves the day and brings a smile to your face because you know he loves our world and especially america. If they can convey that with Iron Man they should have done that here. especially since they tried so hard to be like the Marvel franchise of super heroes movies.

This is mostly due to a LOT of walking through bureaucratic mud. NYC is a city that moves at a snails pace. Unless of course the Mayor wants to suddenly implement some new shit like Bicycles or the complete removal of anything larger than 16 oz beverages.
They didn't even BEGIN construction on the new tower until 2006. They were arguing back and fourth what was going to go in its place prior to that. There's a shit load of time being wasted daily in NYC, and this is just a further example of that.

Hell, the Burj Khalifa (over 2x larger than the Freedom Tower), was built in less time. Began in '04, ended in '10. Yet not this much smaller tower in NYC. Too many people have their hands in the pot.

Who says they don;t discover new technology from the crashed ships that let them rebuild everything faster. Also imagine how fast you can rebuild shit with Superman able to move all the construction materials instantly without the need for as much labor and travel costs. Superman is bad for the economy and eliminates jobs!!!!

Even if they find a rebuild metropolis machine laying around, the military will want to study it for a while, maybe decades. And say they use it right away. What about the destruction and million or so laying there dead? Do we rebuild on top of it? Do we make superman clean it ? what about funerals for the dead? What about planning what these new buildings will look like? Does this rebuild device also build streets and install pipes and electrical cable?

Either way, shit be destroyed and its gonna stay that way for a long time.

Clearly, the short scene at the end where they showed basically nothing but the inside of the Bugle office indicates that they are pretending all the destruction in Metropolis didn't happen.
