Marriage and the Power of Divorce

First, there is no signed document/separation agreement stating we are separated, though we consider ourselves separated with intent to get divorced.

Changed the master password on the password manager service I've been paying for, making it unable for my wife to access it, and unable to access whatever stuff she had stored in there or my passwords.

She asks for her passwords, I tell her I already deleted them, but they may be recoverable. They are recoverable, she asks again and I tell her I can do that for her. Then I tell her she needs to pay the car insurance deductible for the accident she had in September 2018. She says she can't pay it. I tell her if she wants her passwords she needs to pay that. "Are you holding me hostage?" Uh no, you can reset your passwords on your own.

Now she claims that is extortion. To me, that seems absurd, but laws are what they are. So, is that extortion?

Also she gave me a copy of a separation agreement she wants me to sign, I laughed and said no way. Then she says I'm holding her hostage because it will prevent her from being able to buy a house and our kids would suffer because she also says she can't rent either without a separation agreement. Sounds like some bullshit to me. I told her if she wants me to even consider signing that thing, I want a copy of a fresh credit report, her banking statements for the last two years and the estate banking account statements from her deceased parent as well. Again, claims extortion. Yay/nay?

If my eyes rolled back in my head any further during this bullshit, they would have detached.

Get a divorce attorney. Stop fucking around or you will end up stepping on your dick. This could lead to a pissed off divorce court judge. Who will put a foot in your ass.

mcdj22 seems disinterested in honest feedback, only shitting on his wife, which seems against the spirit of the thread.
Shut up, dude. This is funny shit. I am going to laugh my ass off when she rapes him sideways because he was too stupid to lawyer up at this point.

YES, b/c you sound like a jilted pussy ass former lover, and this is like

a bitch move.

God damn, if you did anything remotely to the cunt shit youre going now at a workplace, you'd be reemed up the ass w/ jewy lawyer nose.

Don't make life difficult for the bitch, just so you can "get your rocks off", anybody can see you're being a cunt, to be a cunt.

In work terms, you as a manager fucked a bitch and now she complains to HR, so you decide to put her on night shift.

If you want to get back at her because she has hurt and humiliated you, then don't divorce her. If you want to get out with your skin intact and access to your kids, it's time to pay a lawyer.

You're obviously hurt. Anyone would be. That's exactly why you pay a stranger money to deal with this with you.

It will wind up being less money than it you try to do it yourself. Onoes managed to get out clean, but he's got a billboard tat on his back of the word awesome. Some men are just charmed.

If the goal is to do petty shit to her and make her cry, you'll have many more options and methods to do that if you force her to live in the same house with you.

Let me state that should not be the goal. It ends in murder/suicide often enough to be comfortable in saying you should avoid it.

He changed the passwords, and the only reason he did is so that he could tell her to pay a bill. As soon as she asked he gave her the new passwords. It wasn't about the passwords in any way. It was about control and it was a weak, ineffective attempt to humiliate her as well as reclaim some measure of personal dignity. He knew she couldn't pay, he knows he could, and he wanted to remind her of that fact. That's why it doesn't play well to any impartial observer. And it's why you need one when you're in this sort of emotional state.

We're not shitting on you for no reason. These are bad, transparent, ineffective, and counter productive attacks. What matters is access to your kids. You don't get that by trying to intimidate her. You get that by actually intimidating her. There is a strong bias in her favor when it comes to custody.

And for gods sake don't think i'm telling you to go beat on her. They would put you in jail and they should. You're in such a way I think you might interpret it that way. You've got to do it with the courts.

I changed the master password so she couldn’t get into it. My passwords are also in there. I didn’t change her passwords. And I am broke, I can’t pay the deductible. She cashed out her retirement stuff and has been saving to be able to buy a house and that’s why she wants the separation agreement, so I can’t claim it as marital property when this shit goes to court.

And I absolutely will not harm her. I’ve never hurt her and never will.

Thanks for all the advice about getting a lawyer. My question though was about her claim of being extorted. I already know I need a lawyer.

Instead of protecting passwords? Focus on being a good dad.

There are other ways to make her miserable than password stuff. Best way? Be an amazing dad. Problem solved.

I'm not defending the way the guy is acting but changing your passwords is like... step 1. Hiding them or deleting them is a different story though...
