I would guess a lot of these studies don't approach this question because they will get called racist.

Get these statistics together in one place and a picture becomes very clear. It's a picture that a lot of people are uncomfortable with. So they avoid that research altogether.

Am I to assume this means you have no statistic to back up your argument?

Am I to assume that you are making this assumptions without data to back it up? Certainly not counselor Cad.

Also what level of difference of feelings are we talking about? Are we talking about 1% difference between black and white and Asian and Hispanic. Is it two percent?

Although the trend of marital dissolution has diverged by education in recent decades, literature was not clear about whether African Americans experienced a significant educational difference in marital dissolution. This study hypothesized that educational differences within the African American community have emerged and that the growth in this difference was larger for African Americans than for Whites in the 1990–1994 and 1995–1999 marriage cohorts. Using the Wave 2 Topical Modules of the 2001, 2004, and 2008 panels of the Survey of Income and Program Participation, this study analyzed a series of discrete time‐logit models but failed to find significant evidence to support the 2 hypotheses. Similar to the experience of White women in recent years, however, the probability of marital dissolution has been on the steady decline among African Americans regardless of their educational attainment since the 1990s.

It basically deals with why we sometimes obfuscate data from the census and even give false one. Basically when you have such a small sample as college educated black women in Baton Rouge LA, you can reconstruct your data with a high degree of accuracy.

Don't get angry with Cad. I haven't looked at this iteration of the argument, but it's not the first.

If you look at what Cad's looking at... the conclusions that he's reaching are not unreasonable. I don't think he's right because I don't think our understanding is comprehensive. But that doesn't mean I think he's wrong, because I can see it too. I can see exactly what he's saying, his argument, and how it fits.

I -just- don't think it's that simple. I am naturally suspicious of any argument that reinforces itself in this way. Because i've been trained to be. I accept that training and I expand on it.

I do agree with Cad that the way to reach a more comprehensive understanding is not to bury the issue, create a taboo. These are very ugly patterns. If i'm right, and there's something more to it... they way we influence it is to find out. And if Cad's right, it really is THIS starkly of a physical expression... that will also bear out. I'm a little less concerned with being right, even though I genuinely think I am, than I am with creating a best possible next. God damn this shit is DARK when you start getting into it. But with the tools that we're developing, we can't just ignore it anymore.

Well, you’re being a blind piece of shit.

If you’re looking for data on sports injuries, do you look at professional athletes who don’t even play your sport? Or do you look for the statistics that match what you’re doing?

If you’re looking to figure out how risky birth is for you, do you look at the infant mortality rates for white people or black people? Those numbers are vastly different, does the black rate give you an idea of how risky it is for you? No. Why would you look at it?

It’s an interesting question and problem as to *why* those numbers are different. I’m not sure I believe that black people are inherently stupid or inferior. But they are *different* in ways, and figuring out why that is will help us to unlock what about our genetics make us what we are.

Burying your fucking head in the sand and pretending differences don’t exist is asinine and stupid.

That, and I think there’s a HUGE difference between foreign born Hispanics and American-born Hispanics when it comes to divorce, with American-born Hispanics being a lot closer to white numbers in divorce.
