Your sister is being unreasonable. If shes "expecting" you to attend she should sure as hell be getting your input on the wedding.

Is your elderly immuno-compromised mother(inlaw?) going to this wedding too?
Not inlaw. Yes, she's is going, but to the outdoor ceremony only.

C Captain Suave Yep, that's actually my wife's main concern at this point. Feels like going to appease feelings would be kicking the can down the road.

I appreciate the feedback from everyone else. If only to know I'm not completely crazy.

I feel as though presence, as a sibling, would be seen as being "required" even if not explicitly stated or through pretending they understand if you don't go. Insofar as, most people would be pissed at their siblings if they didn't show up to their wedding.

Her explicitly stating it may seem unreasonable, but I can't imagine a large portion of people wouldn't be thinking it even if left unsaid.

Wife is taking a solo work vacation for a month. She has a remote work schedule so doesn’t matter where she is as long as internet is available. Whole month of just my daughter and I, that is by far the longest being apart since 2001.

What the fuck does this mean? A solo work vacation? Unless this is a bass ackwards way of saying a business trip, it makes no sense.

She is going on vacation but since she just needs internet to work she will also be working a few weeks while there. Business trip implies employer sends her.

So then she's taking a vacation from the family.

Yeah she brought it up and I fully support it, I take week long trips sometimes twice a year to ride gravity parks so this isn’t much different. She was going to take a few weeks but since air BnB gives 50% off rates if you stay for a month we said why not. She going to Sault Saint Marie, plan is to explore the surrounding area including Canada.

That sounds pretty weird and unhealthy. But OK. If it's working, it's not weird.

I camp there for at least a week each year, it’s a beautiful area with a decent casino nearby as well. Across the river is a town that shares the name but there’s not much around other than forest and countryside. If she plans on hugging the lake, st Joseph island is semi scenic…but unless she’s a super outdoorsy woman, not sure what the plan would be.

when I go there I sit on the bank of my campsite and just watch ships for a few days At least. If she’s not into that, she’s gonna get bored I think.

but you know your wife better than we do, hopefully she has a great time :)

You can watch ships while doggie styling. That's how Canadians watch hockey. Keeps everyone happy.

Yeah we both love nature, plan is to enjoy the forests, see some waterfalls/cliffs, hiking maybe throw in some atv or side by side rentals etc.

Hoss Hoss We should be fine but guess we will find out, as I said longest we ever been apart is 2 weeks in 20 years.

This past weekend was interesting.

She invited me to the playground, which I’ve done many times, so that’s not unusual. Her kid is generally pretty great to be around, as for his age he’s very independent and smart, and amusing to be around. Far more outgoing than I was at his age.

I met several of her son’s preschool classmates and moms, which I had never done before as they were all at the playground. Then what I thought was interesting…we hold hands a lot…like everywhere…which I dig…but I don’t think we’d ever done that in front of her son before. In fact we both previously would sort of purposely not do it expressly in front of him. So we’re sitting there on a bench and her son is playing, and she was already holding my hand, and he runs up to us and she held my hand tighter and talked to him about whatever and he went back to playing. I feel like he gave us a look for a split second, ha.

We were sitting there eating snacks — because like all moms she brings a dozen types of snacks wherever she goes. She was eating some of those seaweed sheets and playfully / in a fake way wipes her hand on my jacket, then her son reaches over and pokes my hand. She says to me “if we live together we’re both going to pick on you all the time you know.” Which I thought was sweet! She’d never really said anything like that before.

I am legit on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what's wrong with dragon lady. The worst I can come up with so far is if she's ugly.

If it wasn’t the internet and all, I’d post a pic of her. She looks NICE. Great body, and a pretty face. I’ll post something edited later.

The comment I get from friends frequently is “damn she looks good, good for you.”
