Dang, we keep agreeing. Perhaps we just have a problem with DC Comics. I forgive you.

Still no renewal on Daredevil for another season, or news on a Punisher series. The problem is they say they are only going to do a Marvel show once or twice a year, and Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Defenfers are up next. So potentially, there's no new season of DD until 2018 (as well as Punisher). Cmon Marvel/Netflix, quit being such cheapassess.
I don't think budget is the only constraint. I think they want to focus on getting each of the individual characters well established on their own without spreading their creative talent too thin as they drive towards The Defenders crossover. They also have their network television properties going on at the same time.

as much as i want more punisher, one of the writers of the show mentioned that punisher doesn't work well as the protaganist. an accurate portrayal of frank castle is as a villian who only targets other villians. having him be the one you are rooting for results in him being watered down. it's different in the comics because even in his own series, we all know there are guys like spider-man out there.

i want them to test that, but i don't want a watered down punisher where we all end up sympathizing with him. we shouldn't.

Honestly, it is probably just Batman and Superman that we argue about. We even agree about Doom being the best thing since sliced bread. Perhaps we should hang out and be bros.

How can you not sympathize with The Punisher, in the world they've set up? Judges are bought, criminals are arrested but get back on the street quickly after violent crimes. The first limited series he had, he shot a crooked Judge that had been bought by the mob.

I'd say with 98% confidence they're renewing this for a 3rd season. I think they're trying to determine if they want to merge it into a Heroes for Hire, or Defenders, or whatever show instead of just Daredevil. Also, they have a bunch of shit planned now and they don't overlap their releases, so the more shows they have the harder it is for scheduling.

I could care less about seeing the rest of the Netflix series. They should just dump all the money into Punisher, and call it a day.

He is the Punisher

The only thing that bugged me is how castle can toe to toe DD in a fist fight. Really tired of the he's a marine he can fight anyone.

Was a good season but i didn't feel that any of it had closure.

Well Frank has always been able to go toe to toe with the heroes of the Marvel Universe.

He's like Batman in that respect.

Finished the whole season now--rename show to Punisher please. God damn was he good. I have to say though, the way they framed his entrances and the music that went along with him coming onto screen? Really made the scenes. As Column linked above, they didn't fail to make his entrances epic, even when he was in chains. It was very reminiscent of the cinematography used in Terminator, which was a great choice.

But the music just pushes it all over the top. Every time he walked on screen the music combined with how he moved and how the camera filled the frame with him? As said, it let the audience experience the dread of the Punisher coming after them. Was awesome.

This was my favorite season of the Marvel tv shows. As far as the Netflix ones, I'd put DD2 > DD1 > JJ. Kilgrave was the best villain, but the rest of that show fell flat for me. I agree with everyone that didn't like the actor that played Shane in TWD coming into this...still not sure I like him, but he played this role well enough. My only real criticism is with the Karen character...her being in the middle of everything all the time got on my nerves a bit. Thinking back on it now, it was like she was playing the role of two characters since they killed off Ben Urich in season 1. It didn't ruin my enjoyment of the season at the time, but most of the little negative things that stood out to me involved her.

Is not about not sympathizing with the situations he's in, it's about sympathizing with a "hero" who acts without restraint. I love punisher, but he's not a good guy. His answer to every problem is to hit so hard nothing gets up.

While I understand the desire to create justice, he doesn't actually care about justice. He's not after justice, just punishment.

Well, Karen became a pornstar in the comics after Murdock told her who he was... So...

"When you hit them, they get back up. When I hit them, they stay down." That's what Punisher said. They can no longer kill, rape, murder innocent people. What's wrong with that?

nothing is wrong with that in the context of a story. everything is wrong with that in the context of real world society. there's a reason why capital punishment rarely happens anymore.

In the real world, Judges aren't bought so freely. Marvel painted it in such a way, that the only way those criminals see justice is by Frank's hand. Well, that's the way they first portrayed him in the 80's, after he went babyface.

Assuming they're all guilty of murder/rape and the justice system is bought and paid for then I don't think the Punisher's wrong.

Of course, Frank was going to straight up murder the old man who came to check on the roof because he didn't want him to find the innocent guy he had all chained up. It's really hard to reconcile that with seeing Frank as a good guy

Yeah, Frank is a special kind of monster. He knows what he is. When given the opportunity to be captain America, he turned it down out of respect for what the shield stands for.

Eh ...

Yes, The Punisher was very briefly Captain America... at least he thinks he was. After Steve Rogers' death at the end of Civil War, Castle mourned the loss of the American hero. Even though the two never always saw eye-to-eye, Castle held Rogers to the highest regards and felt someone else had to wear the iconic suit. Unlike the majority of others who wore the suit, Castle put his own flair on the costume and became what many refer to as Captain Punisher. Castle passed the mantle onto Winter Soldier after a few issues and went back to shooting people in the face in a skull t-shirt.
