I
Despite my love for Man of Steel, I can be excused for not knowing that because whenever I watch parts of that movie again, I immediately hit the "10 minute skip" button twice (or maybe it is three times) which brings me right to the burning oil rig scene. I've only ever watched the part with his mom once, in the theater. Because it is terrible.

IMDB says you are correct. It also says she's the same age as me. Maybe I've got a shot!
She's pretty hot, no way Kingpin would ever get a woman like that! I'm only up to episode 10 so no idea if she makes it through the season. I'm hoping Elektra makes an appearance in season two.

I finished it last night. Really loved it. I thought they did a great job of introducing everyone and the setting for the show. I am hoping we get more seasons and see how it all develops.

They setup the kingpin well to really become a totally ruthless kingpin, in total control not relying on anyone or pretending he's a nice guy.

Also like what they did with Matt struggling with morality, and how far he should go...I think at the end he found that the law works up to a point where Daredevil needs to step in but he's gonna be more at peace to where that is.

They also setup Karen well to have some serious issues with what she did, and eventually go down a dark path of alcohol and drugs...and maybe setup the storyline where Kingpin learns who Daredevil is and proceeds to ruin him like he was ruined. Good comic storyline that could be used, and I feel all the elements are there for it.

If this is a good intention of where the other shows will go...we're in for a nice ride.

just getting started. largely ignored all talk on this.

Wasn't expecting this to be in movie universe. Talking about the invasion, etc.

VERY Punisher-esque vibe in the first 10 minutes of first episode.
Just makes me want an "actual" Taken/Daredevil Punisher with "posies" or "the Slavers" (Later on, she told me her whole story. About the day she left her village, about the old man, about Cristu and Vera. About the Thing her father said. About her Baby. When she was done, i knew a lot of men would have to die. )

What's nice is they've setup the stage for Elektra during the Matt and Foggy college days flashback.

the Kingpin really and truly is the highlight of the series, although they do a good job of setting little hooks for the rest of the Defenders series and prepping for the eventual collaboration of them all down the road. Be interesting to see aNY characters crossover from this very dark side of the MCU to the other parts either movie or AoS.

AKA Jessica Jones is supposed to be out later this year with the Cage series coming out first half of 2016. That's when the hooks are supposed to start showing with regards to how they all intertwine with each other. Hell, Luke Cage is already a character on AKA.

Like Iron Man, I think Daredevil is a good start. I also hope they see the general positive reaction of this "more adult" Marvel action and use it to greenlight a Punisher series. But only if they get a showrunner with a great love and keen understanding of the character. And a Dolph Lundgren cameo.

Checked Daredevil's pilot because there was some hype : Yep, I really hate comics to the bone. I'm gonna check next episodes to see if it's any good but right now it's decent choregraphed fight scenes embedded with mediocre story, pistol casting and decent production.

Depends who you ask but... yeah. Definitely better than Arrow/Flash IMO.
I would say it's on par with Arrow/Flash but leagues ahead of Agents of Shield. Arrow and Flash have both had their lulls, but most of the time it's been an adrenaline laced thrill ride for both shows. Agents of Shield has had a few adrenaline laced thrill rides, but for the most part the show has been one big lull.

The fight choreography in Daredevil is really good, but there are no real special effects since the power levels are so down to earth. Keep in mind that shotgunning a bunch of episodes at once can wildly distort your opinion of a show. I shotgunned all of Agents of Shield during the Agent Carter break, and it took a month or longer of watching it week to week before I realized it wasn't that great of a show. Daredevil is pretty damn good, but so are Arrow and Flash.

Yup.

I like it as much as Arrow/Flash. The first part of the season suffers from pacing issues, but think about it. Daredevil is the same duration as the other shows, but has no commercials.

The other thing is, Flash was always one of my favorites, and I have only two years of DD comics. Back in the day, it seemed like he fought the Kingpin for ten of our years in a row.

I personally prefer DD over the other two because I feel like it has less teenager drama bullshit since it isn't on CW or whatever.

You must not be watching the sidekick lawyer with red head vampire shit then.

I enjoyed it. But my advice to those that follow - fast forward through Foggy scenes.

Finally had a night free to binge watch the final 6ish hours of this. I dont see how someone who generally enjoys comic book stuff wouldnt at least find this good, if not great. Personally, I loved it. I was actually sad when the final episode loaded because I could have sat there watching more and more all night. I was especially pleased that it was just as much an origin story for the kingpin as someone here already mentioned.

Did anyone else notice how Charlie Cox sometimes slipped into his native accent?

Flash is a little too campy to really be compared to Daredevil, the tone is very different, like comparing 60's TV Batman to The Dark Knight. I really really like Flash but it does cross the camp line a little too much on occasion for my liking.

Arrow isn't comparable to Flash because Arrow sucks.

Like Vvoid said it's an origin story for both Daredevil and Kingpin but because it's 13 hours long it does drag a bit and there are episodes where relatively fuck all happens but I do want to see more, this show will have great potential when they all get in the swing of it.

Vincent D'Onofrio visually is the Kingpin to a tee but wasn't as confident or sophisticated as I would have liked to have seen him portrayed but that isn't his fault, it's the writers.
