I propose we have a Mistbot. We use a bot that makes posts like Mist, and it'd basically be the same thing but without the responsibility of having to respond to suicide threats. Posts could include phrases such as, "giving paycheck to mom," "I haven't gotten laid in years," and "I will never be happy."

I am somewhat disappointed that mist got banned, but I understand the reasons.

Mist actually did contribute and was capable of being reasonable. Sure, stupid shit half the time... But that's not a horrible ratio. Obviously rape was just a thing to avoid discussing.

  • Jerle posted on blog and elsewhere about renting a boat and committing suicide like a 1700s sailor lost at sea
  • People from here tracked down local police, but an IRL friend of Jerle's had already called them and he got 5150'd for like 2 weeks
  • Jerle cut off the last of his friends for this 'betrayal', started shutting online presence down.
  • I felt a bit manipulated after the drama blog posts, so I posted screenshots of the blog

  • Jerle commits suicide by shotgun with, as far as I can tell, no outward signs/hints or cries for help.

There have been debates over this stuff and there will probably be more. I used to be firmly in the"suicide is no joke"camp, but Jerle's"cry for help"accomplished nothing other than giving Jerle an excuse push away everyone that could have/would have helped and part of me feels that the actual suicide in the end was somewhat inevitable.

I have no idea if Mist was serious or not. Maybe Mist was trolling. Maybe Mist was a dude. Who the fuck knows. People like making definitive statements but AFAIK no one here knows for sure. But I kinda feel like if Mist was trolling then fuck it, that's kind of a shitty thing to troll people with and deserves that ban. And if Mist was serious, I don't know that calling would do anything, kind of like what happened with Jerle.
