Royals have a larger lead over the 2nd place team in their division, than the total gap between the 1st and last place teams of either of the other 2 divisions in the AL
The entire division is poop outside of the Royals. The AL East has both wildcards currently. The 2nd place team in the Central would be 5th in the East.

Yeah, but what's crazy is looking at the division at the start of the season you would have thought it would be the strongest. Not sure anyone really saw the Tigers imploding like that

most "experts" were picking the Royals 3rd or 4th in their division, not even 2nd. Tigers and Indians were supposed to be really good, and a lot of people liked the White Sox too with their offseason pickups. Whoops

Yeah its ended up playing out the exact opposite of the preseason predictions.
Most of the AL was predicted wrong. Nobody saw the Yankees or Astros being good this year. In the NL the Nationals get picked every year and do nothing.

I rarely buy into high expectations for the White Sox. Little of the moves they've made since winning it all have made much sense to me. However, I definitely didn't see the Indians falling on their face like they did this year.

Tigers have the highest team batting average by 5 points, and are still 3 games below 500

It's crazy, the top two teams in the whole MLB rank 23rd (cards) and 27th (royals) in HRs

Team batting does not necessarily translate to most runs. It's still a little strange but not as weird as back when Toronto had the best run differential in the AL and were 51-51. Your team can hit well but if they pitch like shit you can lose a bunch of games 9-8. Scoring a run a game more than your opponents on average and being .500 is just weird as shit. You'd have to win by 3 runs per game on average if you lost by exactly 1 run every loss to do that.

They are sixth in runs, So it's translating into runs, just not wins. Like you said, scoring more than your opponents doesn't give you a winning record though

They've also given up the 2nd most runs in the AL behind only Boston.
Yep, I wouldn't have expected that at the beginning of the year with the staff they had

Boston is another team that can put up a shit ton of runs

The whole AL East other than Tampa has good hitting. Toronto has scored almost 100 more runs than any other team in MLB though, which is crazy as shit.

Bumgarner with another win and another bomb tonight.
He is having a pretty phenomenal year actually. I am slightly torn on the idea of using him as a pinch hitter more often though. On one hand it basically gives the Giants an extra bench slot, which can be huge in NL ball, but he bats right... leaving his pitching arm exposed to a high-and-tight fastball intentional or not.

Giants have been plagued by the injury bug this year but are amazingly (for an odd numbered year) still in the race. Dodgers cannot be happy they are still hanging around. Giants have been Dodgers kryptonite this season and I bet they don't want the Giants in striking distance come late September.

Dodgers are reeling & Bumgarner is a fucking freak.

Bumgarner was probably Paul Bunyan in his last life.

Goddamn Red Sox are the Royals kryptonite this season. We are 1-4 against them, getting outscored 15-35. They have hammered us this season. Good thing Boston isn't going to be anywhere near the playoffs, I want no part of playing them anymore.
