I mean. He's been publicly calling it out for years. And then publicly said "fuck it I'm gonna do it since no one cares". I feel his reaction isn't too crazy.

McCullers the other night did just fine in his 1st start since his dl stint. Relied on his fb, cutter, and change up instead of his curve. Didnt whine about it either.
plain fingers nothing on it = baseline rpm for major league is ~2000ish
rosin only- can get an increase from baseline to about 2200
rosin with bull frogg ~2400ish
the spider tack stuff 2800 ish
throwing the SAME pitch the SAME way -say a fast ball down the middle
baseline =0 " different
rosin ~1" or so higher in the strike zone
rosin will bullfrog ~2" or so higher
spider tack 3" higher or more
for "curve" balls you see the same sort of difference in the break baseline to tack = about 3-4" difference in where the ball goes for pitches thrown the exact same way.
enforcing the rules means.....pitchers will have to....Learn to Pitch the Ball Correctly and instead of going for strike out strike out strike out,, pitch to contact.
for one thing it will make the game LESS BORING than it currently is.

In fairness, Cole has been pretty good since his RPMs have come down.
I'm all for the policing of it... I just think the MLB is most guilty for letting this happen for years, and then on a whim trying to enforce in the middle of the season.
Also, my biggest baseball complaint right now is injuries. Holy fuck. Start HGH research and start letting players use. Tired of tracking Trout, Harper, deGrom, < insert great player here > and seeing them get injured 3 times a fucking year.

A generational talent (Trout) and potentially a beyond generational talent (Ohtani) both being completely wasted because they're on a trash franchise like the Angels.
