Trade deadline was hectic today. Padres, Mariners, Twins, Yankees (not sure why they traded Montgomery...), Phillies all made themselves notably better. As the Astros, Braves, and Dodgers made more minor improvements.
Padres getting Soto, Hader, Bell, and Drury is just AJ Preller madness. That guy is the most insane GM in sports.

Ever since the spidertack ban, I genuinely have notice a lot more pitchers going to the bill of their hat, then to their hair, then back to the bill alot more.
At first I shrugged it off as "ahh its just routine ritual like a batter while at the plate".... now I am pretty much sold that its that they are putting something on their index and maybe middle fingers.
I see from all teams across the board doing this shit.

Tl;dr
Pine tar seems to be a good middle-ground for grip, but not dramatically affecting spine rate.
