A second surgery isn't a 100% career killer, but it also isn't a good thing. It will have a big effect on contract offers, but he has obviously shown that the hitter is still 100% capable. Lots of people dumped his cards after the news, prices took a big hit, but they bounced and bit and have held since. The key is for him to go to a playoff/championship competitive team. That is the main gold of any player's career, and like you said he isn't done as a pitcher and there are fielding options too.He's shown he is absolutely one of the best position players alive, solely on his bat. So you could definitely move him full time to RF and he might still be one of the better players ever.
I wouldn't be so quick to go that route though. I think you try to super reliever him at like 80-100 innings per year of just mega dominant relief pitching. He'd be insanely valuable that way.
