The Ohtani elbow injury is such a huge bummer for sports. Shit is unfair...

I am curious on how much this impacts his contract offers this coming off season.

Do teams offer fort knox and continue to allow him being a dual threat player, risk all of those hundreds of millions of dollars on a player that could be playing 3/4 of a season, then miss the following one due to a pitching injury.... or well above market value for him being just a position player/dh for the remaining, but at a much lower chance of injury for him and you get the absolute return on your investment.

Of course it all falls to him on what he wants to do. But remember, participation is apart of the grade for the Hall of Fame.

He's shown he is absolutely one of the best position players alive, solely on his bat. So you could definitely move him full time to RF and he might still be one of the better players ever.

I wouldn't be so quick to go that route though. I think you try to super reliever him at like 80-100 innings per year of just mega dominant relief pitching. He'd be insanely valuable that way.

It's incredible how bad the Rangers have been of late - and someone still lead the division. Mariners are surging though.

Holy shit, that kid stole it out of his glove!

Also, Mariners in first place in the AL West?! (well tied)

It was over the yellow line though. I'm not sure how it's interference if he's bringing it back. Is it because he had it first?

It's really hard to see unless you go frame by frame, but the ball stayed in the kid's glove. In the screengrab I got, you can see the kid wasn't strong enough to keep the glove cupped as the ball hit is glove and it opened it up flat. However, the ball never really left the kid's glove even as his glove went into Steer's glove. The kid then closed down on the ball and pulled it out.

As for fan interference, I have no idea how that rule works.

Steer would've caught the ball if the kid didn't intervene. That's all there is to fan interference. You can't interfere the interaction between a player and the ball.
