I called it! Nothing Stipe could do about eye pokes besides dish them out himself. The fact he did shows his high level of awareness (he isnt stupid, he is a down to earth guy who pays attention to fans and what is being said in the media. He knew all about the eye poke shit, not to mention all the time he was recovering from his eye being fucked by DC the first fight) and cage savvy.

Good on him. You can't do anything besides warn and complain to ref, or fucking poke back. And boy did he.

One of the most gruesome eye pokes I've ever seen. Couldnt have happened to a better guy! The MMA gods are real boys!

Dana said Ngannou next fight would be with Stipe, not Jones. Figured Ngannou would have another fight, he has not had a 1 fight year and don't think Stipe would go on a 4 month turn around.

UFC needs to suck it up and use Pride gloves. They fixed the eye poke problem two decades ago.

Corporate bullshit is a joke. Now that DC is gone, fuck it anyway.

Eye pokes seem to be a problem at heavier weights.

I LOVE the fact that Stipe turned Cormier into Forrest Whitaker on his way out the door.

couldn't find it, but recall rogan saying UFC owned the glove designs and didn't want to license the design from someone else.

all i could find, ufc signed multiyear deal with Dyaco, and their gloves are pretty much the same as Century. UFC also makes like 7 other types of branded gloves made by 3 other companies


read some comments that said Dana has talked nice about Trevor gloves and also a rumor that IMG (if that what is still called) was trying to buy the rights or brand

It is just fitting Karma that the guy who eye poked his opponents through his career gets his own career ended with a pretty terrible eye poke. Shit happens.
