Negotiations devolved to the point where company president Dana White told UFC Tonight earlier this week, "I'm done. It's not going well at this point. I like Gilbert Melendez very much, but I don't like his management."
Melendez is managed by Rodolphe Beaulieu, who also represents former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.
That's fucking terrible. Gilbert should be next in line to fight Pettis, and that's a toss up to me and has FOTY potential. LW is still stacked right now, but this is such shit.Gilbert Melendez Agrees to Multi-Fight Deal with Bellator MMA; Will UFC Match the Offer? | MMAWeekly.com
Looks like White may have let his personal feelings about GSP get the best of him, and is quite possibly going to lose a great LW fighter.
I can't even deny my man crush for Lyoto anymore at this point.Lyoto looks much better at 85
I agree 100% with everything here. Especially with how hard it is to watch him lose to fighters he's better than because he doesn't engage.I was a huge fan of his the moment he got to the UFC until his first match against Shogun, when I realized he lacked the ability to adapt if his standard gameplan wasn't working. I especially hate seeing him lose close decisions to fighters that I think he is just plain better than, like Rampage and Phil Davis (not saying anything bad about Phil, I think he's great). He has gotten a bit more aggressive, but I just don't think it's enough at LHW. I really think he will walk all over the MW division though, he looks a lot leaner and meaner fighting at 185.
Why can't it be both?Am I retarded or is there no place to watch the prelims on TV?
