Yeah at first I thought he just slipped and fell. Gotta give props to OSP.

I may be going to the Bellator event next Saturday with Bonnar vs. Ortiz, any other fights on the card worth caring about?

Edit - nm, looked it up and there are a ton of names I recognize. Nam Phan, Manhoef, King Mo, Michael Chandler... seems like a pretty decent card.

Chandler/Brooks is the only trulygoodfight on paper. Manhoef/Schilling should be entertaining though, if there's any intentional grappling I'd be shocked. Schilling is a pretty good muay thai fighter.

Strange how Kenny seemed to basically admit on-air that the fights in Brazil are worked. "Not a lot of incentive for fighters from the US to come down to Brazil..." is pretty direct for a commentator. Wonder if he will get flack from Dana or if they will actually try and put pressure on the officials. Its basically finish or lose in many cases, which is pretty gay. Interesting. There's surely the requisite amount of "no-cut-for-shady-lose-in-Brazil" going on behind the scenes...

He didn't "admit" anything, him and Anik called out the judges for a questionable decision. One that wasn't nearly as egregious as people are acting. There's bad decisions everywhere, this one was really overblown just because of the circumstances.

No they didn't. They called out the judges for a perceived historical bias towards Brazilian fighters fighting in Brazil. What made it interesting was that it was a general not a specific statement. I also did not think the specific case was that egregious, but I did think it noteworthy that K and A flirted with the underlying belief (true or false, I don't know) that fights overseas continue to be shady, even in the UFC.

A couple of other awesome fights announced in the last couple days besides those.

Brandon Thatch is finally healthy, will be fighting Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson. That will be awesome. Thatch is like a tall Matt Brown, all aggression and elbows and knees. And Thompson has those crazy karate strikes that he's adapted well to MMA. I expect Thatch to win the same way Brown beat Thompson, by swarming him.

Bigfoot is going to maul Frank Mir

Meisha Tate vs. Sara McMann....ok.

I've already tried drilling the reverse scarf entry into this and it didn't work out so well. I admit I didn't rep it out but from the few times I did it, it seems if your opponent doesn't roll with you then it's not happening. I totally want this to work though, because it looks smooth as fuck.

I'm completely ready for there to never be another woman's season of TUF. These ladies are fucking obnoxious.

I hope Jojo runs through Rose. That whole clique is ridiculous and mega cunty. Also apparently it was that retard Nate Diaz that started the booing at the end. He apologized and said he was trying to get in Pettis' head, because obviously this is all about his stupid lisping ass.

edit: Also rumors that it will be Douglas Lima vs. Paul Daley for Lima's Bellator welterweight belt.

I love the Lima brothers, but Daley isscary.

What say my fellow jiujiteiro?
Saying this as someone who doesn't practice any martial arts, I just don't see how that is pulled off in an MMA fight. It looks cool as fuck, but also looks like you need your opponent to work with you rather than fighting to get away from you. Maybe it is tough to envision because he pulled it off 20 times while his partner literally did nothing to even attempt to fight it off.

Yeah I had to jump off a while ago. It was pretty much unwatchable.

I find it unfortunate that Rose and Jojo fight in the quarters. Those are the 2 I like the most

I also agree that the drama is dumb

What say my fellow jiujiteiro?
No one paying attention would ever let you step over their neck like that from the 50/50. If they provide any resistance at all with the entangled leg you'd never be able to get your hips high enough on their torso. Most of the time from 50/50 it's a struggle just to get your back and hips off the ground, never mind climb all the way over the dude like that.

It's a cool sequence technically, though, and leg-in triangles do happen on rare occasion. Here's Cobrinha getting tapped by one in competition from 2007.
