Uh, Rich Franklin only had a single loss in professional MMA before Silva punctuated the end of his career as a title contender. Middleweight may not have been as stacked a division as Welterweight, but it was still the best fighters in the world at the weight class.

When your dominant you make the division look weak, you can discredit a lot of GSPs record saying weak division the same way as A Silva. These were all serious competition at the time. Look at GSP in Retrospect and I dont find It any more impressive. On top of that GSP last 7 fights were all decisions ffs where as Silva finished pretty much every single opponent

Franklin
Marquardt
Henderson
Okami
Maia
Griffin
Sonnen
Belfort

GSP has

Hendricks (Split Decision)
Diaz (Decision)
Condit (Decision
Shields (Decision)
Koscheck (Decision)
Hardy ( Decision)
Alves (Decision)
Penn (Corner stoppage)
Fitch (Decision)
Serra (TKO)
Hughes (Armbar)
Koscheck (Decision
Serra (Loss TKO)

Who's the best Anderson fought? Basically Weidman? we all saw how that looked ... It's been a weak division with a cartoon prince ... possibly on PEDs. Who got schooled in Pride. The one where he really got whooped was Daiju Takasi - guy has something like a 1:2 loss ratio fighting cans in Okayama car parks ... Basically wrestles a helpless Anderson into a triangle choke like a low budget sub/dom porno
You should really read JackSlack's Silva career write ups he did leading up to the Diaz fight. Gives a lot of insight in to why he was worse in Pride. Basically he was trying to fight in the style of his camp at the time, Chute Boxe. Which meant always coming forward and sprawl and brawl. When he went away from them and trained to his strengths, movement and countering, he made the leap.

GSP has been pretty vocal about it for a long time. After Nick Diaz was making accusations about him George was pushing to get Olympic style testing. And after Hendricks made some more accusations GSP posted his VADA results.

I mean, he was probably juicing, but he didn't wait until he quit to start talking big about it. And putting up instead of just talking a big game.

They just need to bite the bullet and say fuck it with testing.

Make every registered fighter have to do a monthly test, and randomise when in the month the test will be....just skip the random dudes at random times part and make it clear that if you want to be a UFC fighter you will be doing it clean. If the porn industry can make all it's actors get monthly HIV testing then UFC can make monthly compulsory testing part of their contracts going forward. You'd soon see who wasn't clean if they even made that announcement.

Thing is, the UFC did start up their own out of competition testing for its fighters. I am going to assume they ran some trials and didn't like that a large percentage of their fighters were popping and threw their hands up in the air and said fuck it, let the commission do this shit. Commission only got really big with out of competition in the last few months and the failures are just rolling in now. Granted Lombard is an idiot who doesn't know how to cycle properly it seems.

At this point, if GSP wasn't clean, then he is reaching Lance Armstrong levels of hypocrisy here.

That's my perception too.

Holy fuck, I cant believe how many people are calling for 1-3 year/lifetime bans for getting caught doping, do people think that pro athletes arent doping? Fighters dont fight enough already and now people are calling for multi year bans?!

I do not think it is reasonable to assume everyone is doping as the standard. It may be the case but it should not overrule the society norm of innocent until proven guilty. If they ever want to clean up this sport they need to take a hard line approach, much harder than the current status quo. The flip side of that coin is just let people do what ever they hell they want. Unfortunately this is not possible due to the requirement to involved the various Athletic commissions.

wut? youll be done with MMA if Rousey pops dirty......
honestly, yeah. I've got every UFC from #1 and every season of TUF, working on getting all the PRiDE and Strikeforce stuff too but there are honestly very, very few fighters I am interested in any more to the point the only fights I actually look forward to are Rousey's. Like I can't deny Jone's ability for instance, but I can't fucking stand him and have no interest in watching his fights, the HW division doesn't seem to grab me any more either.

Maybe I've outgrown it, and while I'd still love to catch a live event if I get the chance on a trip, I just don't get exctied about the cards any more...like outside of the Rousey-Zingano fight I couldn't tell you who's on 184 and I'm ok with that. Does mean that my opinion on most things in this thread can be ignored though

I haven't really been following all of this PED shit that's been going on and I'm not really sure when Anderson or his camp started claiming his leg was at 100% but typically when you have a traumatic injury like that don't the doctors give you some type of steroid? I really don't know much about the different types of steroids so I don't know if something like prednisone which is often times given to people with bad colds or asthma would show up. I'm guessing for you to pop hot you'd have to have the shit in your system but I'm just not sure about if these tests can tell the difference between the potency of one drug from another.

Cortical Steroids are the healing ones that are generally used to reduce inflammation and such, Anabolic Steroids are the HULKSMASH ones used by athletes and body builders. Corticals aren't banned, but anabolics are.
