Its on Fox no fox streams out there ?
Yeah I got the Fox stream, but wiziwig is my go to place and it wasn't working. Just curious if it was me or a problem with the link.

Also, I think Machida's style has been dissected to the point where it is no longer effective at a high level anymore.

Did he just bitch about america voting in gay marriage ? If so fucking hilarious

He said somthing "what happened america" then sounded like something about why we are allowing gay marriage

Lol. I'm surprised the UFC doesn't fine fighters for talking about anything other than MMA during their interviews.

With how rampant political correctness is, its almost refreshing to see people speak their minds, fucking PC...

Romero vs. Jacare, I'd be interested.

It's not that it's no longer effective, it just no longer has that complete mysticism where fighters have no idea what to do against it. The real problem is that he's a one trick pony with no ability to adapt or change it up. And the way he blundered into that trip was just terrible. That's what he normally does to the other guy with ease.

I mean he was amazing fighting as an undersized light heavyweight, I figured he'd be demolishing the middleweight division after cutting to 185, but he's doing even worse than he did as an undersized LHW. He has nothing but kicks and lateral movement. He doesn't even do his amazing trips anymore. Just lateral movement and kicks. His trips were highlight reel quality.

Machida is 3-3 since dropping to Middleweight, and is 1-3 in his last 4 fights. I mean obviously im talking out my ass when I say he needs to retire, but dude definitely needs to take a break and re-evaluate what he's doing in the octagon. Maybe switch to a gym with less of a rep for juicing too, not that I think he juices.

Why doesnt he throw his straight anymore? Its almost like he stoped doing all of his traditional stuff for a while now, It doesnt even go for his trips anymore

Honestly I think a lot of it is just that the blueprint is out on him finally. You stay controlled and don't fall for his feints or jump in recklessly, unless you want your ribs or face wrecked by a sneakyfast counter knee/punch. Slowly back him up to the fence and don't unload until you're nearly in clinch distance. This is a plan that works best with someone who is bigger and stronger than him that can stop his trips and keep up with his handfighting. Those 3 losses in his last 6? Chris Weidman who is a bigger wrestler, one of the top P4P fighters out there and maybe the best handfighter in the game right now with Lawler and is also the champion. Luke Rockhold, a huge fighter with years of Judo/Wrestling/BJJ to counter the trips and control distance, good handfighter who fights controlled and controls distance and is the #1 ranked contender. And now Yoel Romero, a massive MW Olympic level wrestler with freakish athleticism and speed and a lot of patience and who is ranked 6 and should probably be 3.

All this plus the fact Machida's game is highly reliant on speed and reaction times and he's 37 now and has been fighting professionally for 12 years. Pros tend to start the pretty steep decline right around year 9.

His straights(and knees) that stiffened guys up were generally thrown on opponents he baited in to coming straight at him while swinging and fighters have learned to never ever do that.

So I was watching the fight with my sister-in-law and when I mentioned he was a karate fighter she joked "Does he do this move?" and stood up to show the Karate Kid crane kick. I immediately pulled up the Couture KO gif on my phone and handed it to her and I thought she was gonna piss herself laughing.

Honestly, Machida lost it when he started to try to be "exciting". Earlier in his career he was heavily critizied for being boring, which was a result of his trying to fight without taking damage. This makes total sense in a context like karate that is more philosophically directed, but can produce boring prize fights. Machida's technique is immaculate but he doesn't have the physical attributes - speed, power, chin - for a more engaged fighting style. This is what happens when he compromises (and gets older).

Wat? How did he compromise? He fought that fight the same way he always does, until he got caught in that trip and got his face caved in. Machida has never stopped being a boring fighter, these days he's just a boring fighter with even less of an arsenal.

He's said repeatedly in interviews, starting maybe in 2010, that he has tried to be more aggressive in order to deliver more exciting matches. I'll admit that it's not a dramatic change, but in recent years you can see that he'll occasionally sit in the pocket and try to land combinations under fire rather than in-and-out single strikes. It rarely works out for him.

Edit:

2013: "I have to listen to my fans and to the critics. The fans, the media, everybody talks about it. I have to improve. I have to be more aggressive. I will try, for sure. ... I have tried to be more aggressive. I have tried to throw a lot punches and kicks -- move forward."

He first opened up his offense back before he became champ, like in 2007ish for the Sokoudjou fight, though even then it was more just sitting down on his punches a bit more when he did get someone baited in. Not really unloading and attacking. The 2013 quote kind of ties in with what I said, people aren't just playing in to his gameplan anymore. He can't win decisions with his crazy counterfighting and baiting if the opponent won't let him, look at the Phil Davis fight. And if you look up that quote from him it's right before the Munoz fight, which is probably not coincidentally right after the Davis fight.
