OSP is terrible on the ground and his cardio is destroyed after 5 minutes. He says he's still in the running but he has no chance.

OSP never gonna be a true top guy.

He's basically a very dangerous first round fighter who will knock out guys outside the top 10-15. He will lose to anyone with decent wrestling who can take it past rd1. I actually think going to up to HW might be a better plan for him. Dude is too big for LHW.

Lol.

Tito: "They offered the fight!"
Cyborg: "They offered the fight! It's true!"
Lawyer: "I've had multiple converstaions with the UFC..." no mention of the fight actually being offered.

Too many hits to the head, I think.

They would be crazy to offer her the fight without her first proving she can actually make 135. She has said time and time again she doesn't think she can safely make that weight, and now she is suddenly sure? So what happens if she just says fuck it, only gets to 140ish? As if Ronda would turn down the fight at weigh ins. Then Cyborg goes in with a pretty big size advantage.

Holy shit, finally. Many ammy fighters I know are more obsessed with their weight cuts than learning any other skill related to actual combat.

So what's the actual nitty gritty? Day of fight weigh in where you can't be more than 7.5% over? The article isn't super clear to me, though I have been drinking...

"The Commission considered and then voted unanimously for the Rule to reduce drastic weight cutting, by limiting excessive weight gain to 7.5%."

My suggestion for years now has been that you can't weigh in over the next class up on fight night.

That wouldn't do a whole lot for LHW's then. Good job you made 205, now come back tomorrow no more than 264!

Obviously nobody is going to put on that much weight, but just sayin

Edit: Damn you, Gavin!

Right idea, wrong mechanism. This won't do shit other than discourage fighters from re-hydrating after their cut.

To really prevent cutting in the first place, which should be the goal, you'd need to do something like require fighters to be on weight for 4 days before and after the fight, weighing them regularly to make sure they stay within +/- 3 lbs, or whatever.

They'll obviously rehydrate some. By setting the limit of how much weight you can gain post-cut, however, you incentivize rehydrating as little as possible while still being able to fight. This is dangerous for a variety of reasons.

I train BJJ with a few (low-level) pro MMA fighters. They all say that they'd rather have a muscle mass advantage over their opponent than be fully hydrated. Maybe that's an incorrect evaluation, but under this ruleset they'd still cut a ton of weight and fight dehydrated, which is probably more dangerous to them than it would be without this rule.

To be fair, it would only take one or two retards being retards and paying the price for it before people might decide that advantage wasn't actually worth it after all.

I think it's a losing proposition to rely on the sense of self-preservation of people who want to get punched in the head for a living.

I would absolutely have gotten into MMA about 8 years ago when I first started watching UFC if my eyesight wasn't so goddamn bad. Pro fights don't allow any kind of contacts, so I'd need some A+ lasik for my eyesight. Glasses can still correct me to 20/20 but I'm worse than 20/800 uncorrected. I'm not saying I would be rocking out with my cock out on PPV main events, but I think I could have had a respectable low level pro career in one of the feeder organizations. The dream would have been ending up as a gatekeeper in MW or LHW.

But it's not about getting punched in the head for a living, it's about getting to punch people in the head for a living.

I would absolutely have gotten into porn about 8 years ago when I first started watching if my cock wasn't so goddamn small. Pro porn don't allow any kind of tiny goblin dicks, so I'd need some A+ strappon work or be a bottom. Good camera work can still correct me to 4, maybe 5 inches but I'm worse than 2 inches uncorrected. I'm not saying I would be rocking out with my cock out on PPV main events, but I think I could have had a respectable low level pro career in one of the power bottom circuits.
