UFC still laying people off. Matt Hughes and Chuck Lidell both fired.

And WTF is Maynard doing? Dude needs to call it quits

Oh, also this chick is kinda hot

Mick isnt in complete control, he is just a matchmaker of a couple of divisions.

Bigger wigs are making the call on the layoffs within the organization.

That was pretty sweet.

On a side note... does that guy have tons of K1 experience? He didn't drop 10 hammer fists after the body slam...
Harris use to be in the UFC.

That slam was not his 1st ko with it. Look at Joe Silva's reaction. Priceless.

Liddell and Matt Hughes were relieved of their duties with the UFC today or yesterday. I don't know much about their roles except they were some PR faces or something so I have nothing else to say about that. Mighty Mouse is going to mess that dude up tonight...if it were to be so bizarre that they other guy picked up a W that would be awesome, but there really isn't a chance in hell of that happening.

It was at the Palms and the room looked tiny. It would be cool to go to a UFC event that small, but you'd imagine they'd find a bigger venue for a championship fight.

MM just doesn't draw. Guy is probably the best p4p fighter in the world, doesn't matter to casuals.

Meanwhile having Conor on a card generates 30mil+ in revenue over a normal PPV. His first 3 PPV headlines drew more than all the 2014 shows combined. His worst 3 PPV draws brought in more than either GSP or Ronda's best 3. His 3 fights this year nearly tripled all the boxing PPV's combined.

There's tiers, and MM just doesn't bring in the rubes. He did get a nice raise personally, from 135/60 to a flat 350k disclosed.

To be fair the division is shit, doesn't get promoted and they are feeding him guys so fast who are not ready, there is very little to be excited about.

Plus he's pretty much cleaned out the division. No one seems like a convincing challenge.

This is the big problem, I mean they have to give him someone but there really isn't anyone left. I enjoy his fights but it's a tough sell to people when the outcome is basically a lock from the moment the fight is booked.

And he doesn't want to move up in weight until he breaks the record of title defenses. I don't see any point to him staying at 125 though, he is clearly far and away the best there.

It will be as legit and meaningful as anyone else defending it. He's 2 wins behind Anderson's 10. Which included such luminaries as Travis Lutter, Patrick Cote, and Thales Leites. None of whom are bad, but certainly no more impressive than Moraga or Cariosa.

He fights twice a year, sometimes three times. So if he's really just holding on for the record it will be less than 16 months or so. Though honestly he might be sticking around for the champions money a bit. Again he just got a pay raise to 350k minimum, I wouldn't blame him if he wanted to bank a couple of those checks before moving up.

I hope he makes the best decisions for himself and puts the most money in his pocket possible. One of the best guys in and out of the ring to ever fight in the UFC.

JBJ got to 9 defenses before he went full retard BTW. So I guess you could argue beating Anderson's 10 is tainted by that, but fuck 'em.

Ok serious question... Why do the guys who get knocked out by those body slams just sit there with their legs wrapped around his waist clinging on for dear life as if he was dangling them over a pit of lava? From a guy with no professional fighting or training's perspective, it looks like it'd be a lot harder for him to set up those slams if they'd just plant their feet on the ground or do anything other than cling to him like that.
