I think that just sounds like bad news for whoever wins that fight. Neither of them have weight 205 in who knows how long. To have them fight their first fight at 205 be for a belt just seems silly. Who knows if they would make weight or what shape they would be in if they did.

Yeah it's clearly more just a hype thing than an earned thing. That said, it's better than an overhyped MW moving up and getting an instant shot coming off a loss.

lol love your quote Grimm.

Why would Cormier even want to have to cut the weight and get to 205? He destroyed Bigfoot and beat Barnett, as well as Mir now. Does the UFC just think he has no shot against Cain or something?

He trains with Cain, they're good buddies. Has said for awhile he'd rather try and drop to 205 than fight his friend.

Which is too bad, I think he'd drop to 205 and get an immediate shot, which he'd lose due to the new cut. I am worried the same thing will happen to Pettis.

I'd rather see him fight Cain, and suck it up.

I'd rather he not fight anymore if he's gonna keep fighting like he did against Mir. Maybe that was more on Mir, but holy fuck I was bored to tears.

He would, I posted the recent story that he would and Roy Nelson would fight him if he got the same deal.

Cormier/Mir was half a travesty. Probably even 2/3rds of one. Cormier had control of the fight and never pressed his obvious advantage. I get that he didn't want to go to the ground(smart), but when you have the guy on his heels the entire fight AND you have big punches, you can afford to unload every once and awhile. I swear I thought he was sick or something. Cormier has never been a guy afraid to engage.

9 more fighters cut. Including Leonard Garcia, i guess Mexican Affirmative Action only protects you for first FOUR CONSECUTIVE LOSSES.

Honestly, his only "wins" in the UFC were the bullshit AWFUL decisions over KZ and Nam Phan. He's never really won a fight in 6 UFC fights and not one real win since '09. It is beyond retarded that he was allowed to hang around this long.

edit: KZ "win" was in the WEC.

I seem to recall a quote from DFW that they were looking for cut like 100 or 150 guys in the coming months. Last I saw the roster was like 400 guys or some shit, makes sense to trim the dead weight and make room for new guys.

Cutting people makes sense because fighter performance is very spiky. In addition you have to keep cutting guys to keep having an advantage in negotiations.
