By not trying to play it as a button-masher, taking time with the combat and working combos. How do you guys put up with the dogshit character controls and combat in this series? What am I overlooking? I can't make it more than 15 minutes - it's just TERRIBLE.
Camera is always a bitch, I even dislike it on wii-u but eventually you'll handle it.I am new to this series and wow is there a lot of things to learn. Main problem I'm having right now is with the camera, even while using L to center on target and the circle pad pro. I guess I'll get used to that! But the sheer amount of information to learn is staggering. I can't even process half of what I read on boards. I'm having fun though!
When I know a bit more about what I'm doing I'll try multiplayer and post my NNID.
Yeah, the same goes for penalties. You have to get -10 penalty in a stat for it to trigger, otherwise the negative skill points mean nothing.Camera is always a bitch, I even dislike it on wii-u but eventually you'll handle it.
One thing to note, which I'm nore sure if I read here to on reddit is that the modifiers on gear (eg +2 Stam) only take effect once you have +10 or better total across all pieces
Sadly the multi player interface is lacking, if not in a room with a friend. You can't send a message, and you cannot even see if someone is online unless they are already in a room. If someone is doing single player stuff you will not know they are there unless you tab out and check your friends list on the main screen, but even then you can't message them, so hooking up with friends is a bit of a crap shoot at the moment.Think of the combat system as requiring you to be extremely deliberate - animation locking is a thing games either do or don't in action titles. Monster hunter is highly animation locked, a wrong button press costs potential damage or health most of the time. There are a lot more nuances to the weapons than you think. Stamina management like dark souls is a thing, the auto lock camera control has an extremely smooth interaction with evasion. If you roll to evade the large monster, the moment is passes your fov - tap L, as your character recovers you will be oriented camera wise facing the enemy. I also went through the options settings as I am very particular about camera controls. One that I think might be generally useful makes L shoulder (when no large monster targeted) reorient the camera behind your character. For me this is my much preferred behavior as I use this command in other action games. It may be worth trying out.
Is there a way to message someone on your friends list or invite them to a game?
Definitely had a good time with Cyrus - in multiplayer once you have 3+ players the cats disappear.
Do you mean the Tetsucabra + armor? The low level version chest piece doesn't have a slot for a Health decoration.P
I would highly advise anyone who is still in the early stages of the game to build a full set of Tetsucabra armor. Most skills are fairly not important early game, but Tetsu armor has +HP and Torso Up on it, so all you need is a single Health Decoration (easily craftable early on) and you get +50 HP, which in the early game is a huge leg up; as food will not provide you with +50 HP until later in the game.
Regular Tetsu set has two sockets. One on the head one on the hands. One gem for Health gives +2 Skill and the Set itself gives +13, so +15 gives you +50 HP. I use the other socket to gem out Gathering Down.Do you mean the Tetsucabra + armor? The low level version chest piece doesn't have a slot for a Health decoration.
I've been using the Insect Glaive (finally got a Gore feeler so crafted the Gore weapon) and am really digging it, but the Kinsect upgrading part of it is still kind of mysterious to me.
Only complaint I have with the game (and same complaint I've had with every one i've played) is not sharing progress for Urgent quests on multiplayer - makes it tough to rank up because you can't guarantee the others will help you clear the mission after you help them.
Also it seems like the only Gathering Hall you can't search for is the ones for Urgent quests - since the Urgent quests are technically quests that are a rank above yours you can't search for "Gore Magala" as a target until AFTER you rank up. Makes it hard to find a hall with people doing the urgent quest you need.
I just need to kill the Seltas Queen to unlock the Rank 3 Urgent (which is a mohran boat fight, always fun).
Ah forgot it already had 13, was thinking it only had 10.Regular Tetsu set has two sockets. One on the head one on the hands. One gem for Health gives +2 Skill and the Set itself gives +13, so +15 gives you +50 HP. I use the other socket to gem out Gathering Down.
you probably already sent yours in but its not really a memory error, just a file corruption on the wii u internal memory is unrecoverable because their OS sucks dick. The solution is to always use external hard drive with Wii U, corrupted files can be deleted on that (and a lot less chance of corruption anyways). I had the same problem, reinitializing my Wii U fixed it but after that I started using a 1tb external USB drive to keep all my games, don't play much anymore though since its pretty obvious the Wii U is a total piece of shit from a OS/hardware point of view, its just there as a party games system for when lots of people come over. What a fitting end. I decided to try and really get into mh3 ultimate on wii u. Booted it up, memory error. I could play any other games. So I tried deleting mh3 ultimate and reinstall and it wouldn't let me. Now the thing won't boot. Bricked wii u. Looks like a lot of memory errors because I have the same error code as many others. I'm out of warranty and will try Nintendo tomorrow to see if they are fixing this. Seems to be wide spread enough.
TetsucabraThere a specific set of armor I should farm before fighting Gore Magala? This dude fucked me up in that quest thing, so it might be time for me to get some new armor. Any suggestions? I'm a Hammer user.
