Everyone that likes a Co-Op game should love this fucking game with friends. I do wish PC was sooner, but the fact its PC at all is bonus as hell. It will be fun to see this forum swarm with converts, game will sell itself so hard.

So tried the heavy bow gun (the gattling one) and charge blade last night. Both are a blast. I had no idea you could block with the heavy bow gun. Charge blade took awhile to learn but man it can dish out some crazy damage.

I have been playing Dual Blades for most of my time in MH but for some reason I don't feel like they are good weapons for speed killing. Any thoughts on what weapon I could move to that is a better breaking/killing weapon but not a nightmare to learn?

A few simple questions.

How does the content scaling work? Is the entire game soloable or some require group? And for group content, does it require 4 or could the game be duoed entirely?

Aside from being more fun to play in groups, any benefit to doing it in a group of 4 vs a group of 2 or solo?

Played on original PS4, there was a strange frame rate drop as people were flying into the camp at the very start of the quest, but after that it ran completely smooth.

I have mained Switch Axe since I started playing in 3U, added Hammer in 4U, always wanted to try ranged weapons, but the controls were abysmal on the 3DS. But my god, I think i may main HBG now with these new controls. Incredibly fun, the new ammo types are fantastic, much easier to see critical distance with the reticle change and out of range notifiers. Capcom fucking knocked it out of the park, 6 more weeks, urrrgggghhhhh.

Yea I'm not upgading to a PS4 pro, it's either original PS4 or wait for PC for me.

The PS4 Pro has three options to select (states that only the Pro has the options). They are based on resolution, graphics and framerate.

I think the original PS4 uses the framerate option that disables a few things. It has less shadows and lowers the sight distance so textures don't load as far away (more popins). It renders at 1080p instead of 4k.

I think the "graphics" option turns on everything and renders at 4k with the impact of a less steady/lower framerate. The resolution option has 4k textures, but I think it has a more stable framerate since it doesn't enable all the graphical options.

There was a distinct difference in the color saturation between PS4 and PS4 Pro, but the PS4 ran just fine.

I ran on PS Pro and the game was gorgeous on my 4k with highest graphical settings. I can't wait for launch.

Just pelted through the beginner and intermediate quests with the Switch Axe.... what are the downsides of this weapon again?

Hopefully Digital Foundry does an analysis of the 3 modes. I definitely don't care about resolution, but I really want to know how much of a tradeoff there is between framerate and graphics on the Pro.

Having a hard time finding a weapon I really like. They all seem so clunky and slow since I was playing Bloodborne again recently. Ideally I'd like a weapon that doesn't really need to use a △+⭕ move very often, I can't get that shit to fire reliably at all.

If we can remap keys at all I am totally changing it to the Bloodborne keyset...

I'm looking at these weapons:
  1. Switch Axe
  2. Charge Blade
  3. Longsword
  4. Heavy Gun
  5. Gunlance - if it isn't total shit... I want to like it.

I played hammer in Tri, GS/DS ever since. GS feels decent and the numbers get really big which is always nice, but the added combos still throw me off. Whoever said DS felt smoother was not kidding. I think I will be maining DS just because all the added movement abilities to close space between you and the monster was what was missing previously. I still want to try heavy bowgun but my motivation for ranged weapons is not there, just is not exciting to me.

Vorph - Greatsword doesn't use triangle plus circle very often, but like you said, it is quite slow compared to most weapons.

Depending on how they calculate damage in this game (I know there has been some variance over the years) could determine whether DS is the king of DPS. Not sure if that information has been released yet, but considering we can actually see damage numbers it should help all the math wizards out there.

So far my favorite is the Insect Glaive, just because of the L2+X move that launches you into the air. It's fairly fast attacking when you're on the ground too. I probably wasn't even using the kinsects properly since I did the intermediate quest with it last night but hadn't gone to the training area since the night before, and I forgot what half the controls did. I somehow managed to get all the buffs up anyway though.

Still need to try out switch axe and charge blade tonight, and find something I can beat the expert quest with so I get all the rewards.

RIght with you on the first 3 but might be leaning towards charge blade now. I dicked around with gunlance but just didn't fit my playstyle. The wyvernblast thing it does hits like a truck though.
