I'm assuming the norm is going to be people will set up encampments outside of dungeons that have supplies such as backup CR gear and spell books. I don't really understand why that's such a hassle.

Sure - but given the frequency this comes up in various channels, you’d think at some point they’d come out and say something. Unfortunately I’ve only heard third hand references to ‘crates’ or ‘mounts’ that may or may not exist.
What do they need to "come out and say"? They need to include every game mechanic in their FAQ?
They do "come out and say" in the literal thousands of hours of livestreams and very responsive Discord. If you want an answer, go ask a question.

Well i just asked in the general channel, and apparently some dude said he made one of the bank crate things. Anyone in his group could use it, and it lasted 6 hours.
So now i guess it’s just a matter of bringing a second spellbook around with you wherever you go so you can dump one in your group’s crate? Not as bad as forcing bank runs, but a little goofy. I’ll definitely be taking whatever tradeskill makes them though, because aint no way I’m trusting strangers to have their own shit on lockdown.
Someone over there definitely has a boner for setting up actual ‘camps’ with fires and crates and stuff. Guess that’s kinda fun. I’ve never been into the super RP element stuff, but i can see the appeal.

LOL I remember Brad Mcquaid, here on these forums, while vanguard was being deved, pitching an idea of caravans or some shit to Vanguard. It never made it in but it was sort of an idea of having a caravan follow you around to a camp where you can then set up shop for a while. Store your shit in there, or get items out.

I just want a game with EQ style gameplay/depth but maybe doesn’t require being a no lifer to have the time to enjoy, idk maybe that’s honestly not realistic but TAKP felt that way and it’s a pretty damn accurate recreation of a prior game expansion Shawn was lead Dev on.
I don’t mind a CR but I would much prefer maybe massive XP loss or something so at least if I die I can ragequit for the day and not feel stuck with a 1-2 hour commitment just to log off. Or if corpses don’t expire that be fine too I suppose. Shawn gave us graveyards in PoP

I just wanna say...I died maybe 2 times and both times with a group. Each time the CR took about the same amount of time it took me in WoW to run my ghost back to my corpse. The one exception being the group where the leader wanted to sit and harass a dev for a bit for a corpse summon when our bodies were 40 feet in the dungeon...
It's not that big of a deal. Is it 0 time? No...is it nightmarish? No. Its slightly above 0 and just below tedious IMO.
As more systems get figured out in the game, solutions to ensure there is less downtime will be created from deaths. People will bank gear, like we did in EQ. People will bank spellbooks. Corpse summon is a level 24 spell for necromancers and I didn't see a item cost for it, but who knows. FD and Sneak aren't dropped on death so you'll see the EQ usuals of people FD flopping or sneaking to corpses...
Clerics get rez at level 8 or somethign silly.

I first played a test a few months ago, stumbled around a bit to lvl 2, and thought, "meh...a classic EQ clone with worse art & character models in 2025?"
But I played longer this weekend and enjoyed my time a lot more. What they've pulled off so far is impressive. Don't love the cartoonish aesthetic, but the atmosphere and music was clicking. Giving me a bit of that "feeling" we're all in search of. Also I thought the npc models looked great. It has already shown me more potential than Pantheon which is something I'd never thought I'd say.
I do have similar feelings as
Kithani
in that I would prefer them strike a balance between keeping the core audience happy while also improving upon the formula and adding fresh concepts. I still have barely played (only to lvl 4) but I do see inklings of that with the tweaks to the ENC class (I liked that my summon pet didn't suck and that I got a 30min haste spell at lvl 4). I hope they will continue to surprise and impress me.
