yeah I'm still pretty confused, none of the deploy options do anything on attack and I don't know how to build any siege towers or ballista etc. I get them when I defend tho.
when start a siege, while the camp is building up. there are icons on the ground of the map. you can click on these, to build various siege items. this is done on hte world map, BEFORE you "lead an assault.
How-to-Own-a-Settlement-in-Bannerlord.jpg

this pic has 6 siege items in queue.

as soon as a ballista, catapult, or trebuchet is built, they start firing, AND the enemy ballistas starting firing on your seige weapons. towers and rams dont get attacked. until the assualt.
So, this is also a problem as 4 ballista start nuking your catapults as soon as its built. The key is to click it again as soon as its done, and store it.

you can store it, and then lead an assault immediately. which then, if you stored them, they will be auto deployed in the deployment map. (you can move them if you want.)
the blank spots in the deployment before assaults, are because you didnt build any on the world map.

But deploying them during an assault is also much less effective, since your infantry charge right in. While catapults do still deal a shit ton of damage, and can nuke the crap out of the grouped up enemies.. (as well as your own troops oops.)
if yuo build them, pick them up. and then place them all back down while on the world map at once, they will coordinate attacks on the opposing siege weapons, kill them, and then start hitting the walls. at which point, you can break a wall down entirely, and lead the assault, with a giant gaping hole in a wall or two.

Player controlled siege weapons in the assault. left/right aiming is easy enough to see. harder to see is distance. iirc up is further, down is shorter, and there is a visual indicator on the LEFT side of the seige weapon. A red band of paint, with a small metal bar. Shit is real easy to overlook.

they added a 1.1.0 beta branch, and will add an alpha branch or something later, not sure.

Kind of unbelievable that even with all this something basic like a lot of the troop stats are still fucked up. The fix is literally just search and replace values in an xml file. Seems like something that could have been done in like 2 hours tops by one person.

Yeah there's definitely some low-hanging fruit that they didn't fix. It's almost like they want modders to get their feet wet by fixing really basic, easy stuff. Like adding some spelling errors to a document and asking an intern to review it to see if they catch them, lol.

That 1.1.0 looks pretty juicy. Might be worth starting a new game. I started beheading lords to keep them from coming right back. I've probably killed 30. It's pretty effective but I think it's limiting my career options.

How the fuck do you level trade skill? I have over 100 played hours on 4 different characters and I don't I've gained a single point in it. Operating caravans and selling shit doesn't appear to do anything.

I've been running caravans for a while and mine is still quite low. I don't know if it goes up at all.

Incidentally, 1.1.0 works with my old save but soon after loading, I leveled a couple of times and my stewardship went from 200 something to 411, which is off the charts. Something definitely broken, at least with an old save. Also, several of my companions leveled as well so maybe that has been rebalanced.

It's my understanding there is a bug in trading. Basically if you log off/reload it cancels any profit.
So any buy/selling you do, needs to be done in a single play.

Selling battle loot does not count.

buying things, at the same time you sell, lowers exp gain. sell things, hit done, then buy things separately.

never got any exp from caravans either.

personally trading with caravans however, can be exploited. 1. caravans do not adjust prices with market value. can sell 10,000 iron to one, and it wont reduce the price.
2. caravans have 10k cash limit... but, then finish the sale, talk to them again, and voila they magically have 10k cash to buy more goods with again.

Seems doubtful this is the problem. Probably 99% of my trading occurs during the same session that I acquired whatever I am selling.

just found a new siege thing.

after you "lead the assault" and are on the "deploy" top down view. you can 1-9 select troops and move them.

moving on to 1.1.0, I'm pretty sure I have to make a new save. Only thing I'm a little disappointed by is my kids. I wish there was a way to bring them back. RIP Arenicos, I never knew ye.

I started a new save and decided I'd join the Sturgians after playing up to clan tier 2. Right after I took my oath, all hell broke loose. Two kingdoms started shaving our shit in hard. It's been nonstop chaos and it doesn't look good.

Has anyone figured out a reliable method of identifying what kind of business will do well in a city? It is supposed to be based on what is being supplied by the bound villages but it seems to be more random than that.

its complicated. yes. most people just say, "bound villages". but that means about jack shit.
bound village provide surplus goods, for the base product.
lets take Poros. (note, poros is southern empire, not Western empire as shown here)

Poros has 2 sheep villages. So, a wool weavery would be good right? those two sheep villages drive down the price of wool in Poros.
well no. Becuase, there is no demand for wool and wool clothing in Poros, or Onira, or Lycaron nearby.
ALSO, poros's prosperity is shit.

1. High prosperity cities, sell more shit.
2. look at local, supply, and look at nearby demand.
3. where to nearby villages take shit?
4. war, bandits, looters.

Poros again, does Onica olives go to Poros, or Zeonica? go to Onica, and follow the villagers, find out.
If onica takes olives to poros, then that is the correct answer there. Oil press. Theres going to be a much larger demand for Oil there, then wool products.

But still, poros is not in an ideal location, compared to say, Ortysia, Marunath, Epicrotea, Dunustica. These are the trade kings, in ideal locations bordering multiple nations, and trade goods.
